I feel like we are losing a little momentum in recruiting. We are down to #10 or #11 in most polls and 4th in SEC. Any big prospects out there leaning our way? It is hard to get good recruiting news other than when players actually commit.

Rickey Gibson will announce his commitment on Sunday. Seems to be between Tennessee and UGA. Monday, Jordan Matthews will announce his commitment. Believed to be between Tennessee and Texas. New names will probably pop up during the season, and Tennessee will continue to pursue some guys committed to other schools.

I was never crazy about Elvis. Not sure why. But I like to watch reaction videos of young people listening to older music. He actually was more than a pretty dude with good dance moves. His manager kept him in a box. I am grateful than he insisted on recording “In the Ghetto” because it meant so much to him. And like McGill said, “Trying to Get to You”!!! Then there’s the performer… “Suspicious Mind.” And don’t forget the Gospel with “How Great Thou Art.” Hate I didn’t appreciate him while he was alive.

Oh, he could sing. That's for sure. I'm mainly just saying that IMHO, for someone to be the king of rock and roll (or even a member of royalty), they needed to do more than sing other people's music.

Thanks for update. How do you get your info out of curiosity? I have heard about Jordan Matthews. He sounds like a longshot though. Overall, we got a good class. I would like to see more recruits for the secondary because that has been a weak spot for us.

I know Greece has been struggling economically, but you would think they would take better care of their historic sites. Good on Nashville for keeping their Parthenon in better condition.

A lot of national media members think that Nebraska can make the jump to an 8-4 or better team this year.

The running meme last year was that Nebraska was the best 3-win college football team of all time. The joke kind of turned into a prevailing thought once people did the post-mortem on last year's season.

They were very unlucky in several of their losses, had some of the best teams on the ropes, and figure to get better this year. Plus their schedule is a little more advantageous.

Ah gotcha. I didn’t know the context of their losses last year just that they lost more than they won haha.

There is lots of good info. We keep it in an undisclosed location. Only a select few are actually privy to it though. Sort of like the VN Illuminati.

Yesterday Swain was discussing Roman Harper’s “10-2” comment and said that he doesn’t think that’s realistic. Also said that if a Vol fan says “nah, I think 8 or 9 wins” then the fan police come out and say that they’re a NegaVol. Swain said that person is not being negative, he’s being realistic, and that’s better for the team. Ergo NegaVols are better fans FYI.

Also yesterday Tony B said the defense won’t be improved this year. Call in today to tell him why he’s wrong.

Won't delve into all of that, but do believe that Harper, the Bammer that he is, is just trying to pump us up, so when we "only" win 7-9 games, he can dump on us for "failing".

Read player threads on Tuesday and Friday mornings, tidbits or the most important info from TOS is reported here the night before and that's when they give updates it seems. Also, listen to VQ podcasts on Tuesday/Thursdays. Usually enough to keep me up to date

Three big names I'm keeping a tab on: Rickey Gibson (Aug. 14- trending our way), Jordan Matthews (Aug. 15- trending Texas), Tomarrion Parker (Dec. decision likely- just decommitted from PSU, four reported favorites are UT, UGA, UF, Gumps)

Josh Pate thinks at least one of WVU or Tennessee will beat Pitt at home

He’s the best listen in college football. No outlandish hot takes and logical analysis. Doesn’t present anything with a slant or bias either. Just appreciates college football.

I’ll talk football with people like that all day.

Cristobal underachieved at Oregon.

He may have but he used it as a stepping stone to an area he recruits really well at. I wouldn't be surprised to see Miami back as a big time player in the title hunt in the near future.
