Farrokh Bulsara's stache was crucial. Especially being it was the 80s and still not used ironically.

GOAT frontman

I can't disagree, because Freddie had it all...he could sing better than everyone else, plus he was a badass rock n roll frontman, an amazing performer, etc, and so forth...

However, at least one other, most definitely, can say, "hold up". I mean, Mick Jagger IS rock n roll...is THE frontman of frontmen.

However, however...give me George, Lennon, and McCartney over any and all.

I'm a huge fan of Mick Jagger and I'd even put young Axl Rose (his vocals were out of this world back then) in there but no one has ever topped Freddie. I mean at least in terms of Rock n' Roll. Now if we open it up to pop and soul you gotta include Prince. Michael Jackson, James Brown, Little Richard, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. And probably Robert Johnson. #oscarssowhite (I keed). For real, those are the guys I think of as the pinnacle.

For women.... Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Big Mama Thornton, Billie Holiday, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, Erykah Badu (and I'm prob. missing a few). And yes, Courtney Love who is one of the best frontwomen ever (I know but girl was good). Overall, I feel there's more women vocalists who are great but they're harder to find in rock and in bands.

Some education for my menfolk up in here (Ms. Badu):

Honestly, the further we've gotten away from the old days of Vaudeville the more live acts have suffered. And hip hop just doesn't lend itself to amazing vocals (nor does pop - Michael Jackson and George Michael were oddities in that pop rarely meant talented).

Impossible for a screen. Hologram projection maybe. . . but I don't think it would look that good though. Has to be fake to an extent. I feel like someone may have taken the video and edited in the graphics outside the screen frame. . . maybe edited the whole thing.

The sunlight and shadows matching everything outside perfectly makes it seem like an fx edit too.
Exactly

Each created a new layer to the later artists and their music.

Musta have been part of his persona on stage or his personal life. Maybe both?

I was really too young to know/understand how or why but you can see a ton of it in old recordings. Even so, I don't know how Prog Rock band from the UK managed to capture the audience they did but it seems like there was nothing Freddie couldn't will into existence. He's the male Janis Joplin, imo. Just someone who poured his heart out so completely when he performed that you couldn't help but be moved.

Personal angst probably helps.
