The reason I like the skirt is because of the metallic finishes. I don’t really need the gladiator-skirt-slant-Venetian-blinds construction. It reminds me of my collapsible steamer basket insert, which keeps getting the overlapping layers tangled up, and it seems like it would rattle like hayul.

I had a steamer basket like that for decades. Even after a few blades came loose, I would reattach them each time that they came off. My wife acquired a stacked pot steamer. She volunteered my steamer basket for metal recycling.
