Nolan and Manny > Riley. Still a hell of a deal though.Arenado and Machado are both better defenders but Riley is arguably a better hitter than both.
Arenado (age 28): 8 years/$260 (player option after 3rd & 4th year)
Manny Machado (age 26): 10 years/$300M (player option after 5th year)
Austin Riley (age 25): 10 years/$212M (no player option, team option for 11th year)
And to add to it…
Kris Bryant (age 30): 7 years/$182M with a full NTC
Just a fantastic deal
It is a fantastic deal. Couldn’t be happier with it. But I don’t think you make the argument that he is a better hitter just yet. And the difference between Nolan and Manny defensively is like the Grand Canyon ha.Arenado and Machado are both better defenders but Riley is arguably a better hitter than both.

Rather have Riley and his contract 10 out of 10 times than the others tho.
