What's scary is that that setup has led to at least one murder/home invasion in this county (they killed the family) and another where the homeowner killed them. Those happened a few years ago but it's still scary, especially since I'm not a big person even for a woman and OH is so ill.

I'm not super-reactionary but I realized that I didn't have any weapons at all. We had an arsenal before the fire - every manner of gun as well as swords and other weapons. But since then has been all hospital visits and health scares so none of that was ever re-purchased.

It's sick that people prey on other people's good nature and it also disgusts me how much scams have increased since covid but all of these businesses can't find employees to work for them. My wife is small and has been attacked in public here in FL. Once was a huge guy at a gas station that thought she was someone else and kept yelling some woman's name at her. She didn't have her .38 on her that time but the Indian or Arabic store owner yelled at the guy that he would shoot him and had already called the cops.

I go into some sketchy areas of Jacksonville for work but there are entire chunks of the city that we won't send crews into and can't schedule an appointment for me to come estimate. I recommend a .38 revolver concealed carry and a shotgun for the house like a previous poster said.

Yeah Uros, JJJ & ZZ all three were awesome. Top character guys, very intelligent and well spoken men.

They hooped with every single kid that wanted to get up shots. It was an awesome day. Asked each of em who fans were about to be surprised by.

Phillips is that dude. Tobe day 1 came in pushing as much weight as Uros (strongest guy on team). BJE is also apparently impressive.

Sounds like a lot of bad characters at that game…. Hope everyone learned a lesson on how to behave…. Youth sports don’t need that type of behavior.
So the near home invasion has me wanting to get this: Px4 Storm Compact | 9mm Compact Personal Defense Pistol | Beretta

The link is a 9mm but I'm thinking the .40 would be the right fit for me. Anyone have one?
Shotgun is best for home defense. Pump or semi-auto 12 gauge. Load first round #9 bird shot lots of noise, low wall penetration(incase of others in the house) and shows your intent to defend yourself after that load double 00 buckshot.

What?! Dude, forget the other series, you're on the best! How far along MT are you? It's by far the worst start because everyone and everything is brand new (again), but it gets really good by the end. I'm almost done with the series, my favorite I've ever read.

Memories of Ice is probably my favorite book ever though, or at least close to it. Just so epic and and far reaching but then it all comes together in the end.

Just read the part where Trull Sengar and his brothers went out on the ice and got the sword. Memories Of Ice is so freaking good it's ridiculous. Just so amazingly beautiful but painful too.

I love how books 1 & 3 tie in together and 2 & 4 do as well. Seems like Midnight Tides is a prequel for everything up to this point but I could be wrong since I'm only about 1/3rd of the way through. I'm ready to get past it to The Bonehunters but I'm sure that Tides will have a great payoff like the climax of all the previous books.

Oh ya, it's starting to get good. Once they get the sword things pick up. And you're starting to know who is who in the whole new cast. Tehol and Bugg are a really fun duo, you'll enjoy them more and more. Power through, the next 2 are among the favorites of the community.

I have read a handful of Machen stories ages ago but nothing recently. Def. hit me up with some specific ones. I love the old style. :)

MR James: Canon Alberic’s Scrap Book, A Warning to the Curious, Oh Whistle and I’ll Come for You My Lad, Casting of the Runes

Algernon Blackwood: The Wendigo, The Willows

Robert Chambers: The King in Yellow

Arthur Machen: The Great God Pan, The White People
