Should U.S. Swap ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner?

She’s the perfect person to make an example of.

A gay, American female athlete with just enough fame to warrant a political response from our government, and elicit criticism from Americans who don’t care for her politics or lifestyle.

Putin knows how to keep us divided.

Do you really think the average person on the right keeps talking about this story if it's not in the news tomorrow? This is mainly a progressives issue.

Who cares? What does this prove about anything? None of this is reason to hate anybody. How can you hate somebody for something so minor that I wouldn't even call it an offense? Where do you learn such hate?
Oh, so now leaving her there and not caring two cents about her is hating her? Talking about trying to connect dots.

I asked "why do we hate her?" and then you answered the question. Why would you answer the question if you think you do not hate her? LOL. Please forgive my unwarranted confusion.

I'm a virtue signaler, says the guy virtue signaling about voting. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I highly doubt that you will accept that you are doing the same thing.

So the Glory Johnson answer wasn't good enough?

How many other US citizens are jailed in Russia? She shouldn't rise to the top over any other American citizen in the governments' response to get her out just because she's an athlete.

You said hate. I specifically went out of my way to use don’t like to avoid a conversation just like this one. As far as whether I’m virtue signaling by complaining about her voting, you’re absolutely right.

That’s just it…it’s in the news because BG is a notable professional basketball player being detained in a Russian prison.

The average person on the right likely doesn’t care, but that doesn’t mean the story isn’t newsworthy.

You want to play semantics with this? You said you don't like her and you said "**** her" in a conversation about the nightmare she is living. You can try to claim on a technicality that you don't "hate" her but your attitude is hateful no matter how you choose to label your feelings.
I also say “**** the Yankees/Phillies/Mets” on nearly a weekly basis. I don’t literally hate them. You asked a question so that you could argue with everyone to make yourself feel morally superior. Have a good day little virtue signaler.

Nancy I don't hate you either because I don't know you. But, I don't like your stand for nothing politics and your love of switching back and forth on a subject just to argue. I certainly wouldn't trade you for a terrorist, sorry. You'd be **** our of luck.

You don’t need a sting operation to play politics. Sometimes all it takes is for an opportunity to present itself.

For as long as BG’s played pro ball in Russia, flying back and forth and whatnot, I’d be surprised if that was the first time she flew with vape cartridges…and I fully acknowledge it’s on her to know the law of the land where she’s playing.

But sometimes the rules don’t apply, until they do.
So are you saying that they targeted her? Again, this was before February 24th, so that likely didn't play a factor in this. But, I'll play along... what if it did play a factor? Would the Russians get any leverage with a WNBA player or someone of more significance?

Bro, "I don't like" is a synonym for "I hate" under the context of the question, especially when you couple it with "**** her". IDK what to tell ya. This is the ultimate walk back.

Glad we got to the bottom of it, tho.

They get leverage for the reason that LW stated. Gay, minority, female, progressive, protester to the national anthem. Perfect storm to put political pressure on anything they want with the current Fed Gov.

No, it's not. The classic definition of hate is not what you want it to be. I hate very few people in this world. When I do, I generally don't have a thing to say one way or the other about them.

Or she got busted with drugs.

She needs to pay the consequences of her actions. Too bad she is too stupid to know the laws of the nation she is entering.

"Cannabis in Russia is illegal. Possession of up to 6 grams (or two grams of hashish) is an administrative offense, punishable by a fine or detention of 15 days. Possession of larger amounts is a criminal offense"

How much did she have? I was called out because she only had 0.7 gram..... or was that 0.7 kg?

Again, I'm not doubting that there is a political angle to this. I'm simply saying that they did not go out and target her specifically for the purpose of using her as leverage (meaning I don't think they set her up or planted anything on her). I think she had the stuff on her and got caught.

I believe it's both. She got caught and then they realized they had a perfect political wedge.

Again I never used the word hate and specifically avoided it. I even admitted that I was guilty of virtue signaling too. That wasn’t good enough for you and you’re not only still grinding at it, you put words in my mouth and lectured me. About what I was really trying to say. So **** you…….but again I don’t hate you. I’m just done arguing with the worlds most sensitive man. I’m sure your set at the coffee sho is getting ready to start anyway. Namaste.

You are right, it was 0.7 grams, so she would be out on time served in the US (if she can get in front of a judge).

Why? Should we lobby for the release of every American in a foreign jail? Or release every foreigner in an American jail?
It is bigger than her. This is Putin putting out a ridiculous prisoner exchange to test us. Tell him no and continue to work on her release to make him look like an ass.
