‘23 AZ WR Ja’Kobi Lane

Ja'Kobi Lane, Red Mountain, Wide Receiver (247sports.com)

Visiting this weekend to camp and try to earn an offer. Believe he's doing the same at UGA tomorrow before traveling to Knoxville.

Has offers from more than a dozen schools, including Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas State (OV'd last weekend), Iowa State and Utah and was just offered by AU last week. Stood out at OT, including being in the "Others Considered Category for WRs in the post-mortem "Buidling a Dream Team" recap

Thursday Night standout:

WR Ja'Kobi Lane – Lane has turned heads on the 7v7 circuit plenty of times before. So, it shouldn't be all that surprising that he stood out Thursday as he has a knack for getting open and finding soft spots in defenses. Lane and his Tucson Turf teammates weren't expected to put up many points against the South Florida Express or Miami Immortals as both organizations are loaded with blue-chippers in the secondary, but the group did just that as Lane scored at least four touchdowns. Some evaluators will point to Lane's 6-foot-5 frame and claim that his length is why he's so productive, but the playmaker out of Mesa (Az.) Red Mountain deserves some credit for being a crafty route runner and understanding how to work for his quarterback.

So much of being a great WR is the craftiness of understanding the d and were to go to get open. So many just run to a spot and that is why so many highly ranked kids never make it in NFL because they do not understand how to get themselves Open. Like sounds like he will earn this offer. In CHRIST Alone

Agreed. Seems like he has elite body control and can find the soft spot in the zone, which comes naturally to the kids. Hail satan.

Yes, please. Really like his HUDL highlights. Big receiver, smooth route runner, great leaping ability, great hands. Would be a really nice add imo
Could be 4* by end of season. Staff really needs to hit 4* & 5* players hard if want to compete with Bama, A&M, GA & FLA. Need to start throwing nil money around. Anyone know what Skyer? has in its war chest. Last I heard 27m less what they promised Nico.

No…. We don’t…..They need to get a few guys that turn out to be stars…. The majority of the rest need to be solid players with very few true misses….. that’s how you build…. When we are ready to compete for championships…. The star ratings will match our evaluations…Too many times in the past…. We took overrated guys bc of their star rating…. Butch was especially bad at that.

Agree Butch was bad at it. Majors & Fulmer were pretty good at it. We have maybe 5 players in the state of TN each year that want to come to UT & are capable of making a real contribution to the program. Players today are following the nil money. Does the state of TN have a 5* rated player in this years recruiting class? Why did Nolan sign with A&M last year? $ perhaps? Wether you like it or not it is going to take big nil money to build this program back.

Like it or not the recruiting landscape has changed. If I’m a 5* I’m going after the money. Loyalty is one thing, money is another.

The recruiting landscape has definitely changed. But we do are time and time again that relationships are at the very least on equal footing with money when it comes to committing.

Relationships are still the most important to 8,9 out of ten of them. If Nico didn't like Heupel, no amount of money would have been enough, period

With that said, NIL has to be on point, as well.

Both are huge, but relationships are still the overall key...wins and losses and championships still right up there with them both.

Agree relationships
are important, but if relationships are on par between tOSU & TN and if tOSU offers 3m & we offer nothing, where do you think that player is going?

Thanks SugarCC for an intelligent reply to my post.
