Wrong again Jave. If you look at the most aggressive dog breeds, it is mostly small dogs. But since they do not so much damage, it is not reported as much. But they have found that smaller dogs are more aggressive. Do you work in jail dog programs? Do you work with local animal shelters? I do and some of the biggest in Atlanta. Almost everyone that works with dogs will tell you that small dogs are way more aggressive and most large dog attacks are from poor owners.

Small dogs may be more aggressive but that’s not the point. Pit bulls have a bad reputation because they kill more people than any other breed and it’s not even close. They snap and often harm those closest to them. They are the loose cannon of the dog world.

My my my, you've went and done it now... wait til @Glitch gets off work

I was reading your signature with Oxymoron in it. I had an engineer I was working with in late 90's on a project at Occidental Chemical.
My manager and myself were leaving one day and he said that engineer was an "Oxymoron".
Still makes me giggle

No way Labs should be on this list.

As a chihuahua owner this is pretty true. If bigger dogs had the attitude that mine have sometimes, there would be a lot more issues with all kinds of bigger dogs.

Chihuahuas are aggressive as hell. If they don't know you, they generally don't like you. But when was the last time you heard about someone being killed in a chihuahua mauling? Can't say I've ever heard of it. Small dogs normally are more aggressive, but they don't have the strength to kill you. Most dogs are fine if they're raised up properly, though they can be overprotective of their owners. Occasionally though, even a well raised dog can break bad. When it's a large breed, the consequences can be deadly.

They are also often bought by people wanting them to fight. When brought up and raised as a puppy they can be great loving dogs. I know a few people that have had them that live in the country and they are friendly dogs that are big playful babies. But I agree if I get a pit bull I want to raise it myself and get him when he is young. If raised right these dogs have proven to be great pets. But they need love and attention when they are young and need to learn discipline as well. Folks that buy a pit bull wanting to scare folks or breed them to fight and do not love them they will get what they want. But there are many folks that have had pits to have full happy lives and never hurt or attacked anyone.

What did the 9 labs do? Break someone’s leg with a tale wag?

I have two labs at home, and I could definitely see them accidentally knocking me over on their way to get a treat. Other than that, the vicious tail wag is the most dangerous thing about them. (And their farts).

They are probably one of the most abused dogs and the most used in dog fights. Pit bulls are also way over bred and probably account for half of the dogs in Fulton county shelter right now. I work with them all the time and we have NEVER had to re-home a pitty for aggressiveness. We have had many other dogs come back of many different breeds.

I've always heard the chow chow was the dog that would turn on you. In defense of the pit. They attack more people , because they are popular with owners that aren't as responsible. On the flip side, I don't want to have a pet around my kids that could maul them Givin the slim chance they could be mad at that moment.

If I didn't have kids, I'd have a pit , German Shepard, Doberman etc. I just don't wanna roll the dice and gamble on my kids.

This is true. Which is why socialization and training is key. But small dogs are way more aggressive. They just can’t really do anything to a person so it doesn’t get reported on.
