I mostly agree but in baseball at least you have options.

- drafted out of HS
- attend juco and get drafted after FR or SO year
- attend 4 year college and get drafted after JR or SR year (or after RS So yr)
I just hate the oversight of the ncaa what a corrupt organization, glad they have lost power with the NIL

Is it really an ncaa rule or is it CONTROLLED by the minor/majors?

I honestly have no idea with baseball, but the football rule is heavily influenced by the NFL. They absolutely love the system by where CFB is their farm league. Aka they want to see what they are getting in their product before making a substantial investment into the product. It's basic investment risk management on their behalf.

Just looked it up you are right need to be a Junior or 21 years of age…dumb imo
Not dumb, it’s actually the best setup in all of sport and I wish basketball would do the same. You can chose to go pro right of high school and go minor league route, or you can go college route but have to commit minimal 3 years. It’s your choice.

Jeremi Wisniowiecki

Prince Jeremi Wiśniowiecki (Ukrainian: Ярема Вишневецький – Yarema Vyshnevetsky; 1612 – 20 August 1651) nicknamed Hammer on the Cossacks(Polish: Młot na Kozaków), was a notable member of the aristocracy of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, Prince of Wiśniowiec, Łubnie and Chorol in the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the father of the future King of Poland, Michael I.

Fun fact:

7] Because of its size and relatively consistent borders, Wiśniowiecki's estate was often named Wiśniowieczczyzna("Wiśniowieckiland").[64]

Hammer on the Cossacks… that is what it being a Vol fan last 15 years was like.

He probably also gets paid by IMG, which is a private broadcast company that owns the rights to UT games. That salary is probably not public.

Good info. I was in a roundabout way looking for how much to replace him, not that it will probably ever happen. I imagine the UT employment is non contractural.

Telling ppl they are not allowed to make a decision on their future to be drafted at a certain time and earn a living for the benefit of college sports is ridiculous in my mind but to each their own

They can go pro out of high school if they want to.

The NCAA is always the boogeyman. This can't be right...😏

But seriously, thanks for answering. I knew the football/NFL situation. Wasn't sure about baseball.

The pro leagues love these restrictions.

I couldn’t practice law until I got a degree and passed a test. How dare they require it?

I seriously hope you aren't a parent.
I am. I understand the point you're making, but it falls short. My "kids" are all adults, just like the college players. Also, when I was limiting my kids' personal rights to protect them, it was in the context of knowing each of them as individuals, as opposed to blanket rules, taking rights from strangers I don't even know, and to whom the rules may or may not benefit.

My point is that I'm generally libertarian in my views. I'm generally for as small a nanny state as possible. That principle applies here.

For future reference, if you want to promote discourse, I would encourage asking questions as opposed to accusing someone's parental skills right out of the gate. Makes you look like an ***hole.

I believe he is a director of broadcasting for the school. But the salary would probably be the equivalent or more of what Mike Keith makes for the Titans, if you wanted to go that kind of route.

A bit different. I think we're all glad attorneys and CPAs have to pass certain tests. For good of the public.

Tbf these private pro leagues do it on their own behalf to minimize investment risk. But hey, that's their right, so whatever. If a kid wants to "go pro" badly enough, he can always go overseas. And NIL has changed all this, anyway.

Do you actually need a degree or do you just have to pass the test? I've always wondered that.
You can't apply for the test without the minimum college credits. At least for the CPA and CMA (private industry equivalent). I'm 99% certain the bar is the same way. A lot of people getting their CPA are pushed to also get a law degree, since it isn't far off once you've studied tax, business, and regulatory law. Powerful combo.

Probably the same for licensed engineers. Not sure how doctors work tbh. Do they even take tests or just fling it? Most doctors I've ran into seem to be just flinging it 😂

I researched it a while back. Kesling makes significantly more for his job than Keith, but he does work a lot more too (basketball and football and admin stuff).
