War in Ukraine

This is another example of you having issues. People replying to a post days/weeks later in an active thread happens all the time. You aren't special.
It wasn't an active thread at the time lol. It was a certain poster who is actually worse than you bringing up an old topic out of the blue.

Interesting shots of the Azovstal facility today. Looks like Russia had their best of the best of the best trying to take that place over and it still took 3 months..

I've heard a ton of stories about poor Soviet construction techniques but they must have done a pretty good job on that place. It has held up to an incredible amount of shelling. No doubt it's been freaking medieval in those subterranean tunnels. Throwback to Stalingrad except this time it's the Russians getting bled. How ironic.

The US manipulates markets far more than Russia, so stop with this idiocy.
Russia literally shut down their market for weeks on end, and have banned foreign money from getting pulled out.

We havent got anywhere close to those two.

The best you got is controlling what denomination they trade oil for. Which is a wash.

Exactly. So was Russia's goal to take Kyiv? No. Was it because they COULDN'T take Kyiv? No. As Mariupol shows, they can take large well protected Ukrainian cities, when they want to. Now, are there more logistical challenges to taking Kyiv? Of course, but this notion that Russia wanted to take it but couldn't is quite honestly ridiculous. They didn't have near the manpower or logistics to do it. So either their leadership was ridiculously incompetent in regards to Kyiv but quite brilliant in Mariupol, or their goal was never to take Kyiv and those who say Kyiv was a feint are likely accurate in their assessment.
No, no, no. Completely different scenarios. Mauripol was the UAB of the season. Kiev would be the Bama of Ukraine. Now does that mean undefestable? Absolutely not. But just because you think Russia ran up the score on Mauripol doesnt mean squat about Kiev.

Especially when you consider all the other points you completely glossed over. Containing the football comparison. Mauripol was the opening game, at home, with all your starters healthy. Kiev is away, late in the season, and a couple reliable starters are playing limited time due to injury.

Trying to equate the "genius" of one game to the realities of the next doesnt work. War is not a transitive property game. Russia didnt display any genius in taking Mauripol, even if they did, the fiasco near Kiev was going on at the same time. So clearly the entire Russian military leadership is not the General Neylands you want them to be.

To further complicate the Kiev strategy, not that Russia has exposed their feint, and are pushing from the south, their trip to Kiev is 3 times longer.

You dont deploy considerable forces into enemy territory and leave them there for a month on a feint. You build up forces on the border, move troops around, keep things moving, maybe some small probes to keep the enemy in place. You dont dive in more than 100 miles, and let your self get picked on by constant attacks. It defeats the purpose. The idea is to pin the overall enemy while maintaining your own forces.

You think he could report accurately on the Ukrainian side without being punished?
Again the argument that Ukraine/the west is just as bad as Russia, but only criticism for the West.

Until you can actually balance your rhetoric dont try convincing anyone you care about the truth.

As a UAB grad, I'm going to go ahead and have to ask which Waffle House you prefer we meet up at.
