Gun control debate (merged)

Social media of any kind can perpetuate racism in all forms. Where parents have failed is not teaching their children from an early age that all people are equal and it's best not to judge but if you do, base it on the character of the person and not on the color of the skin, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or gender. Parents should be a bigger influence on their kids lives than website or a display.

This, this, this, this, this.

Unfortunately, parents are hit and miss. Always have been and always will be. And so many people have had kids they didn't know what to do with that they've used electronics as a defacto babysitter.

My daughter has some classmates who think we're poor because she doesn't have a TV in her room, she doesn't have a cell phone, and we don't have an Xbox or PlayStation. My daughter is 10; why should she have that stuff?

I'm not big on death penalty, usually want to reserve it for traitors, spies and mass murderers, oops, guess that includes this guy. But I do agree this kid is in for a long, brutal life and maybe that's the best punishment. He'll have to affiliate with one of the extreme white supremacist gangs just to stay alive. From what I've been told that means his family now has to provide financial support to his "daddy" in the gang. So they will pay a large price as well.

Good parenting will defeat almost anything.

There is no doubt but that good parenting has become harder and harder to implement. But there is also no doubt but that the nasty influences on young people from hate groups, be they BLM extremists or white supremacy groups, has also increased dramatically in the last 10-15 years.

Ten dead, just grocery shopping… that really sucks.
Nobody on your side seemed to care about someone shooting up a a school bus full of kids. I'll give you that thankfully nobody got killed, bit not one of you even mentioned it. Why? I'm sincerely confused why you, LG, EL and the crew only ever post, or comment, if it's a white shooter, ever. It's all bad, but you ignore daily stories, and then pounce on these like they matter more . Why?

Oh, you don't have to convince me. Other parents were guilting the wife and I for not getting our children phones in the 5th grade.

And then you have a government that let's rioters go unabated, prosecute folks for defending themselves from the rioters. Kids are watching.

I don’t know who is on my side, but I personally care very much. I have children and can’t imagine the anger felt by the parents of those kids. You need to drop the political narrative and pick up the human narrative.

If you care, can you post your comments about it, quote them maybe? I saw it being discussed, but don't remember seeing you say a word about it. I'll apologize in advance if I'm wrong, and even again if you quote where you spoke out against it. I'm not having a political narrative, it's wrong no matter who does it. I'm questioning the narrative of a few of you, who only seem to get upset when the shooting is done by a white person. Again, I apologize if you did say something about the other one, I just haven't seen it.

As parents we must combat this and not leave kids to be babysat by the TV and internet.

I never noticed it discussed here and admittedly didn’t know about it till a couple days after it happened. I just gave you my thoughts on it though, if that doesn’t meet your criteria for outrage then I can’t help that.

I can certainly say your narrative is almost purely political, as you felt the need to call out the people that, in your mind, you are diametrically opposed to on a political basis.

Also, yesterday in regards to this case I asked someone about what the relevance of bringing up race is in this matter. Obviously, I didn’t get a response because there is no good response. So I’ll ask you the same thing since you’re inserting it into the matter as well. Can you tell me the relevance of race here as you see it without bringing up scapegoats such as democrats, or liberals, or mainstream media? Can you tell me what the relevance of race is in terms of gun violence, to you personally?

Fair enough, but it would be foolish to ignore the effect these groups can have on others by posting their hate, lies, and propaganda.

Are we still talking about the fringe groups or did you switch and start talking about government , religion ,and the MSM without telling us ?

You think this young man went and shot 13 people, killing 11, because he didn't fear prosecution?

That is pure idiocy.
Quite a leap. We're talking generalities. We're discussing the lack of parenting being a root cause of many of these things. When your government turns a blind eye, it definitely diminishes the seriousness of it.

I only called out the ones who always show up when it's a white guy, that's not political, that's fact. Here now, you have LG, and EL and you. Not one of you can be found when there's a shooting by someone who isn't white, those are also facts. I'll agree race shouldn't be the issue, but it always is. Certain people only say anything when it's a white shooter, heck, a couple usually start separate threads for these stories. I'm saying if it's not political or race related, then why pick and choose which shootings to get upset about? They're all bad to me, this guy needs put down today, I don't care his race. I get it's easy to miss things here, but find it odd you guys never miss when the story is a white guy. Read through the thread, look back on old threads, proof is right here on this forum.
