War in Ukraine

I'd trade Turkey for Finland and Sweden in a heartbeat. The only thing Turkey really has to offer is perhaps to limit access from the Med to the Black Sea ... and not to be a PITA launching point threatening other countries in that end of the Med. Swedes and Finns are worth having on our side - not sure Turkey is worth the effort; a world of difference in ethical behavior.

Here's an interesting story about Swedish pilots for those of you who have never heard of the incident.

Finally declassified: Swedish pilots awarded US Air Medals for saving SR-71 spy plane

I had a Turkish GF for about 6 months... and, yeah, I'd trade her for a Swede.

Don't worry yourself Ras, Nato isn't going to have to choose. Turkey may not love NATO but they don't want Russia's boot on their neck either.
Much mainstream evangelical end times thought nowadays interprets Gog me Magog as Russia and Turkey and that they will eventually ally with one another and March South together to attack Israel, leading to the final Battle of history in The Valley of Armageddon

It's asking to get blasted, but Tulsi seems to be the most honest person in DC in recent history. I don't like her politics, but you can work with an honest person. It's also a possibility that her honesty is somewhat a reflection of the generally dishonesty found in DC, but she's a refreshing change regardless.
That kind of positive talk about the highly intelligent, honest and beautiful Tulsi Gabbard will have people accusing you of being a communist sympathizer.

Here in America they are the same race, over there everyone gets to be their own race, so idk.

But it's too bad for your red herring I said Russians IN ukraine. No countries borders over there are sacroscant. So pointing out that Poland has a history IN what is now Ukraine, isnt really a "gotcha" for you.
If you think they are the same race then you need to share your feelings with people who are actually Russian and Ukrainian. I bet they will be real receptive of your opinion.

Many of these ethnic Russians have lived in the Donbass region of Ukraine for centuries. It is their homeland. Just like at one time what is known as Western Ukraine was the homeland for many Poles.

If the democrats get their way, this war will last decades, so the defense contractors can stuff their mattresses for a generation on the taxpayer dime.
I had heard for years from democrats that Bush was a war criminal. Now they have become the party of Bush and the Neocons.

Bush was better than a fake accent. Any president that had a thang for women of color was going to be ok. He just didn't really know what he was doing. He was winging it, but he was at least a likable goof. My president man almost got taken out eating a cracker watching a football game. He had no interest in war, he was thrust into war and winged it.

I just don't think he wanted to be bothered with the details of who got hired unless the post was one that directly affected him. He delegated the rest of it entirely.

Just like a business man. That's the way it works there to some effect. Politics are entirely different. Has he learned? Maybe?

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, May 13

The Russian military has likely decided to withdraw fully from its positions around Kharkiv City in the face of Ukrainian counteroffensives and the limited availability of reinforcements. Russian units have generally not attempted to hold ground against counterattacking Ukrainian forces over the past several days, with a few exceptions. Reports from Western officials and a video from an officer of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) indicate that Moscow is focused on conducting an orderly withdrawal and prioritizing getting Russians back home before allowing proxy forces to enter Russia rather than trying to hold its positions near the city.

Ukraine thus appears to have won the Battle of Kharkiv. Ukrainian forces prevented Russian troops from encircling, let alone seizing Kharkiv, and then expelled them from around the city, as they did to Russian forces attempting to seize Kyiv. Ukrainian forces will likely attempt to disrupt at least the westernmost of the ground lines of communication (GLOCs) between Belgorod and Russian forces concentrated around Izyum, although Russia is using several GLOCs, including some further away from current Ukrainian positions than any Ukrainian counteroffensive is likely to reach soon. The terrain east of current Ukrainian positions may also favor the Russians attempting to defend their GLOCs, as large water features canalize movement and create chokepoints that the Ukrainians would have to breakthrough.

Russian troops continued efforts to advance all along the periphery of the Izyum-Donetsk city salient but made little progress. Russian forces attempted a ground offensive from Izyum that made no progress. We had previously hypothesized that Russia might give up on attempts to advance from Izyum, but the Russians have either not made such a decision or have not fully committed to it yet.[1] Small-scale and unsuccessful attacks on the southern end of the salient near Donetsk City continued but made no real progress.

The main Russian effort continues to be the attempt to encircle Severodonetsk and Lysychansk from the north and from the south. Russian troops attacking from Popasna to the north made no significant progress in the last 24 hours. Russian forces coming north-to-south have failed to cross the Siverskyi Donets River and taken devastating losses in their attempts. The Russians may not have enough additional fresh combat power to offset those losses and continue the offensive on a large enough scale to complete the encirclement, although they will likely continue to try to do so.

The Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol continue to fight despite the odds, although Russian attackers appear to have penetrated into the Azovstal facility.

Key Takeaways
  • Ukraine has likely won the Battle of Kharkiv. Russian forces continued to withdraw from the northern settlements around Kharkiv City. Ukrainian forces will likely attempt to disrupt Russian ground lines of communication to Izyum.
  • Ukrainian forces have likely disrupted the Russian attempt to cross the Siverskyi Donets River in force, undermining Russian efforts to mass troops in northern Donbas and complete the encirclement of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.
  • Russian forces have likely secured the highway near the western entrance to the Azovstal Steel Plant but fighting for the facility continues.
  • Russian forces in Zaporizhia Oblast are likely attempting to reach artillery range outside Zaporizhia City.
  • Ukrainian forces are reportedly attempting to regain control of Snake Island off the Romanian coast or at least disrupt Russia’s ability to use it.

Exclusive: Putin's captured war plans show his Ukraine ambitions shrinking

Is Putin ready to cry UNCLE?

The Pentagon announced Friday morning that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke to his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu for the first time in 84 days, urging "an immediate ceasefire."

I think a fair settlement would be:

1. Russia withdraws from all Ukrainian territory they have occupied since 2014. 2. Sweden and Finland put on hold NATO applications indefinitely. 3. Ukraine agrees to not apply for NATO membership. 3. Russia rebuilds all Ukraine cities and infrastructure destroyed by their invasion. 4. Russia pays compensation for all Ukrainian deaths caused by the invasion. 5. Putin publicly kisses President Zelenskyy's ass.

Item 5 Is not negotiable.

Crimea is a negative because that is where their Black Sea naval base is. Donbas regions had independence referendums in 2014 and wanted to join the Russian Federation at that time, but Putin refused to accept them. He was hoping that the Minsk deals would prevail and that a ceasefire would begin. 8 years later, none of that materialized.

2. Sweden and Finland put on hold NATO applications indefinitely.
Could have been agreed on before 2-24-22.

3. Ukraine agrees to not apply for NATO membership.
Could have been agreed on before 2-24-22.

3. Russia rebuilds all Ukraine cities and infrastructure destroyed by their invasion.
4. Russia pays compensation for all Ukrainian deaths caused by the invasion.
They plan on rebuilding these regions once they are fully integrated into the Russian Federation. Their aim was to minimize the amount of damage as best as they could precisely because they wanted to avoid the costs that it would be of rebuilding.

5. Putin publicly kisses President Zelenskyy's ass.
I'm sure 3elensky would enjoy that.

Russia just tried to annihilate the world, brutaly killed tens of thousands of innocent bystanders, Possibly millions with the food shortage, attempted to wipe a nation of people of the planet, unnecessarily compromised the human race, and displaced and kidnapped thousands of children.

Russia will withdraw

Russia will compensate

Putin will remain in an international prison for no shorter than successive free and open elections in Russia

Russia will give up it's nuclear option (it has proven to be irresponsible and incapable of handling such power).

It's like dealing with a ****ing child....Russia is grounded. Until I say so. You have lost your human rights, and shown yourselves to be inhuman.

Until you say so? Have you relayed this message to Putin?

Russia has :been defeated: at Kharkiv
Ukraine war: Russia pushed back from Kharkiv - report from front line
Live: Ukrainian forces advance in Kharkiv region

All part of Pootins master plan. He is the military equivalent to the brilliant chess strategies employed by Mikhail Botvinnik these days. Allow Ukraine this victory, tactical retreat (as was always the plan), and lull Ukraine into a false sense of security in hopes of enacting a "cauldron" around them. This was always part of the plan, only to keep what they stole in 2014.

Putin can say with confidence that he did accomplish one of his goals. He disrupted and rearranged the geopolital landscape. He caused chaos and disruption and made everyone pay attention to him. All negativly for russia. enjoy your outcome.
Pootin's Ukraine plan summed up in one gif:

they never wanted Kharkiv, it was a diversionary tactic to occupy Ukrainian forces.

It’s clear that Kharkiv was just another strategic head fake while they distract the Ukrainians from the real prize, Snake Island 😂
