that was some great performing out there and a strong determination to drive and both find open men and good shots.

Whoever said in the past that he was a joke at slashing and finding open men, here's your chance for some karmic crow-eating.

Can he do this with consistency? eeehh

His defense wasn't completely atrocious today. Just generally below average. That's an improvement.

Prince's best game of the year by far. JP was the most determined that I have seen him this year. Good game.

Was he really the best option to guard Arkansas's best scoring threat down the stretch?

Id call this a successful game for JP since....

1) He didnt take a jump shot

2) He didnt foul someone who was taking a 3 point shot

3) he fed the ball incredibly and more so than we've seen from other wings this year on drives(or not)

4) he slashed and cut more since, boy, i don't even know since who

5) he utilized his span instead of his spunk(insert juvenile follow-up here) on the D end, and though fortson scored well on him, those shots were impressive

fixed

I know that guy made some crazy shots, but I'm just surprised that given how Prince's defense is derided, he was the one covering their best scoring threat.

Some kind of light has gone off in this guy's head over the course of the past 2 weeks, and outside of a poorly timed push-off, he's elevated his game on all fronts lately and seems only behind the interior stalwarts in terms of performance.

I can tell you that Prince is finally starting to be what he was supposed to be. He is a possible Triple-Double guy, game in and game out. According to the box score, he was a rebound away from a D-D, and 5 assists away from the 3 (which he'd have gotten had they been in the rest of the game). Prince's ceiling is high, and I see him only getting better for the remainder of the season.

Ya, well, I'm not sure on that really. I mean Tyler is the only dude in UT basketball HISTORY to record a triple-double, so maybe let's not go assuming 10 more minutes of court time for J.P. would have resulted in 5 more assists.

That said, he sure doesn't hestitate to throw the ball inside a lot when they're running that pass-around drill on the arc, which is something a lot of those other wings should start noting.

I don't know, he still is doing stuff to piss me off. I didn't get to watch all of the game last night, but at the end of the first half when he fouled that guy for three, and then I believe it was in the second half when he just dribbled the ball out of bounds. I mean it wouldn't be bad if he didn't have like one stupid ass foul a game...Normally coming at the end of games and end up hurting us. He has improved his shooting and D no doubt, but he needs to quit making the stupid mistakes.

This may, weirdly, be asking a bit much of someone like Prince, who bases his game on his a) ability to make anti-textbook cuts through the lane b) tendency to always try for the meaningful pass(the opposite of this would be Bobby's too-cautious near-hand-offs) and c) uses his reach to take swipes on defense.

With his tenaciousness and freestyling you are bound to get some of that 'what in the..?!?!'-action as well. Certainly great players are able to harness those skills. Certainly Prince is not great though.

He's damn good however. But I'm not sure you're ever gonna see the end of the mistakes. It's worth it though.

I too believe that JP has a high ceiling and brings a lot to the table for this team. Can you imagine where they would be without him? He is basically the only one who will drive to the basket in the half court set we run. Also, he is probably the best junk man in the SEC. He gets a ton of put backs around the basket. Lastly, I too believe he may be able to get a triple double, although I look for that next year. He is just now back to 100% health and is really showing it.

In J.P.'s defense on the running out of bounds, he got a rebound that was quite difficult and didn't have his balance as he tried to turn around. It would have happened to just about everyone else on our team. The difference, though, is that most of the other people would have already given up on the rebound. At least J.P. goes for it every time. He knows that his spot is almost up for grabs, and he's gonna make sure he keeps it.

I didn't ever think I would say it but, I have been very impressed with J.P.'s effort as of late. He of course still makes his bonehead mistakes, but overall I think he is finding his game.

Strike #2. Late in the first half he fouled dude taking an off-balance 3. That said, I still appreciated his game last night. He has very good eyes and distributes well. If he could control himself just a little better when driving, he would score more in the paint. He has good kinesthetic sense, but some of the layups were no more than prayers.

One of his better games , but it's hard to stay on the defensive end of the court and snowbird too .:eek:hmy:

True. I think he stepped up a bit on D last night. Still not there, defensively, but he seemed a bit more intense on that side of the ball.
