Where is this forest city at? Is it a good level of ball to go watch?
It’s Forest City, North Carolina. We’re in the Coastal Plain League. I believe we’re the closest college summer ball to Knoxville. Since college guys play, we’re not in a minor league baseball classification system, but our level of play is around single A.

At the beginning of the season we won’t have guys from schools that are in regionals, super regionals, etc. until their season is over.

I’m a UT alumni, and long time UT baseball fan, so I’m happy we have a good relationship with the program and had many Vols play for the Owls over the years.

Following us on Twitter is a good way to easily see our roster.

Come on out to a game and have some fun!

So do the Bananas play a real game and the show is kind of mixed in? How does that work?

I’m sure 1RBFjr knows more than I do, but I watched a video where they explained that for “real” games, they still do the theatrics, but obviously much more toned down than the Bananaball games.

What's going on now is different than the regular season. The people they have touring around recently aren't the guys that'll be on their roster here later this month and the summer. Right now they really emphasize their scripted show and their custom rules, and it works for them. Shortly with the regular season they'll be going with traditional baseball rules between the white lines, and they'll certainly still have fun in the stands and with players goofing off around the dugout.

During the regular season, umpires will keep things regular. For some of our games, we'll have Madison Bumgarner's father umpire (he's always interesting to talk with and hear what's going on). I can't imagine Kevin Bumgarner looking the other way for some things the Bananas do. The regular season umpires are also being graded, so they'll keep things in line.

So if you want to see all the craziness, go see one of their tour games (played outside of Savannah). If you see one of their regular season home games, you'll get pregame craziness and some during the game and in the stands. If you see one of their regular season away games, you won't get the same craziness. Jesse really busts his tail putting on a good show, and without a doubt he's made that type of baseball fun.

Perfect. Thanks for the explanation.

I'll give you some credit man, you've definitely got me ready to go watch some summer ball. I'm not sure if I'll make it out to Forest City yet or not (I spend a lot of time around the Tri Cities, so those App League games are easy), but I'm definitely gonna do it.

Summer baseball is fun. The players (probably) don’t have school hanging over them, and they get to have teammates from all over the country and different conferences. Bonds are made.

An example of how guys meet up:
