War in Ukraine

Found this on ADS-B off Mexico. One V-22 shows on ground while other was circling land pattern (practicing I guess). I thought it was some kind of fluke but I checked USNI fleet tracker and Carl Vinson is operating off California. Thought it was neatFDD9FA01-4355-4250-9317-2B899BE6DF2D.jpeg

From what was stated early on in the conflict, these countries were willing to give weapons to Ukraine in exchange for the US/NATO replacing them with newer weapons. I'm sure that there is some sort of dealing going on where they are either getting grants or discounts, and the US taxpayer is still on the hook somehow.

Pretty sure the M-1 deal took place before conflict

She’s about to die from an accidental fall from a first story window for implying Russia loses in Ukraine.

This war is just damn weird. I will be honest and say I have been swamped the last 60 days with work and haven’t been able to keep up very closely but it feels like we somehow baited Russia into this via a proxy war. I am not saying I am right. Just saying this feels like it

Do you believe this is a proxy war?
Hell yes it is a proxy war. We (the US) are actively encouraging European/NATO countries to flood Ukraine with old, used up, obsolete weapons in an effort to get Russia into a quagmire. Plus, imagine if Donald J. trump had promoted a war in a country that he had prior business interests in. Every right winger/red hat would be on here defending onslaughts from the Luthers, LGs and evil lawyers on this site. But this is the perfect storm, because you have both right winger/baby boomer red hats and leftists that believe in the Russiagate nonsense that can form like Voltron in support of their emotional, blind hatred of Russia. Now keep in mind, these are the same red hats that wouldn't pizz on the NYT, CNN, MSNBC or any other mainstream media source when it comes to COVID or Trump. But boy, do they drink up the Kool-Aid these same sources pitch when it comes to Russia.

Do you believe this is a proxy war?
No doubt in my mind it is and the $33B confirms it. The war machine is cranking back up and we will make sure that the US will supply Ukraine with as much military hardware they want for as long as they can hold out for. This is another Afghanistan except Ukraine is supplying the bodies to fight the Russians.

Possibly. But I'm speaking in a general sense, not specifically to one weapons system over another. These NATO countries are expecting some kind of payback or return for their cooperation in this.

Not sure I agree. We spend a fortune on military R&D as evidenced by the weapons being displayed in this conflict. We get payback for this expensive R&D and production.

This is mostly low level stuff, sans M777, but it seems low cost weaponry has become so sophisticated and accurate that I am not sure where this goes.

I mentioned it several times before, but take a man fielded weapon that can take out a tank with more precision and distance than the tank itself, this is a revolution of dispersed warfare. It is a revolutionary step beyond GW1.

Not saying we or Poland or anybody doesn't need offensive firepower, but the defensive position has changed dramatically.

I can agree with this but what is the goal for outcome? We either weaken Russia which in someways weakens China abs resets a Taiwan time clock for China or Russia goes nuclear and we over played our hand and are headed for WW3 which I believe strengthens China.

I just don’t see the angle on my.

It will be for longer than that. They are hoping to have this drag out as long as possible, even past the point of the last drop of Ukrainian blood is shed. The Ukrainians don't matter one damn bit to the decisionmakers. its about war profits and then trying to claw back some of the graft that they were able to have when Biden and the Clintons and other US/Western pollical families were able to rob Ukraine back in the good ole days 8 years ago.

Just seems Ukraine has been too much in the news cycle the last few years. Bizarre. If an assassination in Serbia could lead to WW1 with alliances, this makes me nervous

So what are you saying in these first few lines? This is still income/revenue for the MIC. And these stockpiles will have to be replaced, even if they are "low level" stuff.

And with regards to R&D, is this the same level of R&D that has given the US such engineering marvels as the Boeing 737 Max and the F-35 recently?

Because we have politicians and their families right here in America with financial ties there, sir. Connect the damn dots.

I agree. In the grand scheme of things Ukraine is a blip on the global map and they have been constantly in the news since Trump.

Long, but worth the watch. Stark differences between Ukraine and Russia, and good insight into how Russia treats not only their soldiers but their people.
