War in Ukraine

As horrible as this war has been and will continue to be, one of the few bright spots, other than Ukrainians turning the invaders into sunflower fertilizer, has been seeing the Eastern Europeans finally being able to overtly express their absolute contempt for Russia. After being subjugated for so long and then being forced to play nice diplomatically for years after breaking free of Moscow’s influence, it’s nice to see Poland/Estonian/Latvia/etc finally be able to tell Russia to go **** themselves.

There is a higher quality version of that video (minus the music) and I'll be honest, its a bit tough watching those dudes die, regardless of being stupid ass Russians. That drone bomb gets dropped right into their open (gone) sunroof. Brutal.
I feel the same. I said when this started its going to be a slavic blood bath. And it is. this isn't good for anybody.

I saw a poll that showed that even after horrific invasion began, and despite the obvious hatred of Putin, the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians didn’t see Russian people as the enemy. That’s very encouraging.

The US is reportedly saying that Russia is using outdated maps from the 70's, and many targets are no longer there. Also, much of it's ammo and explosives have failed to detonate, or misfired. Russia is in trouble at this point. They are going to be mostly dependent on expensive missiles shot from sea.

So here is the US relying on imports again. Why can't this country simply develope its own talent and industry here domesically? This country is run by idiots. So we go begging to the Chinese for widgets, the Saudis and Venezuela for our oil and now looking to Russia for our scientists and engineers.
We artificially increase the cost of manufacturing and labor in the US and our best & brightest go into financial manipulation and getting internet clicks. We increase the cost of college with "nobody knows their gender" training and cry for student load forgiveness.

Take it for what little it's worth, its Newsweek, and when I tried to go to the source their servers were down or unavailable to me.

Russia, Belarus call on former Soviet nations to help form USSR-style union

The Russians alledegly want to form, a totally not Soviet, Union with some of their buddies.

LOL, they're trying to get the band back together?

I'm sure the former Soviet states will be lining up to joining a club only to be ruled over by a whacko like Pootin who's legacy will be destroying his own economy because of his ego.

Let's see how this plays out Cotton.

It is hardly ever the populace. Just the leaders.

Yes, but still - humanity has a us vs them tribality.

They may not see the russian people as enemy's or vice versa, but that doesn't seem to stop the shrugging when the "other side" suffers injustice. In other words, they may not wish harm on the 'rival' but they don't really give a sh*t if it happens either.

You're right, a war like this with so many variables that could cause bigger problems is not good.
But I've got no problem with killing Russians, by proxy war or whatever. They supplied the North in Vietnam and the Taliban in Afghanistan (of course we did it to them first in Afghanistan and did it more effectively).

Yea..I retracted my post as it is more complicated. Time and generations seem to heal for people, but governments seem to take longer..ie China and Japan vs US and Japan. I think a result of the brutality and righteousness.

Russian forces made limited advances west of Severodonetsk on April 29 but remain stalled south of Izyum.
Ukrainian forces in eastern Ukraine are likely successfully conducting a maneuver defense rather than holding static positions, redeploying mechanized reserves to resist attempted Russian advances. Concentrated Russian artillery is enabling minor Russian advances, but Ukrainian positions remain strong. Limited Ukrainian counterattacks around Kharkiv city may additionally force Russian forces to redeploy units intended for the Izyum axis to hold these positions.

Key Takeaways
  • Russian forces likely intend to leave a minimal force in Mariupol necessary to block Ukrainian positions in Azovstal and prevent partisan actions and are deploying as much combat power as possible to support offensive operations elsewhere.
  • Ukrainian forces are successfully slowing Russian attacks in eastern Ukraine, which secured only minor advances west of Severodonetsk and did not advance on the Izyum front in the last 24 hours.
  • Ukrainian counterattacks in Kharkiv are unlikely to develop into a major counteroffensive in the coming days but may force Russia to redeploy forces intended for the Izyum axis to hold their defensive positions around the city.
  • Ukrainian intelligence continued to warn that Russian false flag attacks in Transnistria are intended to draw Transnistria into the war in some capacity and coerce Moldova to abandon pro-European policies.

Sort of true. Was true. They can produce more if they want, but anyone that doesn't have to buy it is refusing it, and many are reusing to offload it from ships. Places like poland have been cut off, but can buy from other countries at a higher price. The big user of Russian oil is germany, who sell it to other countires like poland. What russia has done is set up a system in which you have to buy russian gold, and then buy rubles with the gold, which you can then spend with russia. This consolidates and gives the ruble value, but russia is bleeding money faster than it is taking in, and this consolidation will only work for so long. Also, germany is calling it black mail and now refusing. Just because they produce it does not mean they can offload it.

Pictures from Internet confirm sending of US M777 155mm towed howitzers to Ukraine

According to pictures released on Internet, we can confirm that the United States will supply M777 155mm lightweight towed howitzers to Ukraine. On April 23, 2022, several M777s were loaded into American C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft from U.S. Force.

Citing non-official sources, at least 4 C-17 American military transport aircraft were involved in this delivery and 10 M777 howitzers were loaded into the aircraft.

According to the latest information published on Internet, the Ukrainian armed forces will receive a total of 108 M777 155mm towed howitzers from Australia, Canada, and United States. Army Recognition reported that the United States has approved the delivery of M777 howitzers on April 13 and April 22, 2022, respectively.

The M777 is a 155mm lightweight towed howitzer which can be easily transported by military aircraft or towed by truck thanks to its lightweight being significantly lower than other howitzers of the same type. The gun has a much higher level of digital connectivity allowing more rapid, safe, and accurate application of effects across the modern battlefield.

The M777 provides direct support to combat troops through offensive and defensive fires with conventional and precision-guided projectiles. It can also employ illuminating and smoke projectiles. It has an effective firing range of 24 km with standard 155mm HE (High Explosive) projectiles, 30 km with Extended-Range Full-Bore projectile, 28.7 to 37 km with M795 HE projectiles, and 40 km Excalibur GPS-guided ammunition.

The M777 can be towed behind a gun truck tractor. It can also be lifted by the CH-47 Chinook helicopter and carried in the Air Force C-17A Globemaster III and C-130J Hercules aircraft. The M777 is also deployable by Navy watercraft and amphibious vessels.

Wonder if we're providing precision-guided projectiles. Seems like that would be a game-changer.

If I recall correctly we are sending the sentry (I think that's what it is called) equipment over there with the guns. It can detect precisely where an enemy shell has came from so that the return fire from the howitzers can destroy the enemy artillery.

The Brits are saying that Putin will declare war on Ukraine and issue general mobilization during Victory Day on May 9th.

I didn't think that was even disputed or asked of me. I thought we all knew that the US was there.

Yes a few hundred soldiers are in Northern Syria fighting with the Kurds, one of our few allies against ISIS in old ISIS held territory. It isn’t a military occupation or invasion and you know that you just can’t help yourself in defending Russian aggression. The US is fighting actual international terrorists not imaginary ones in Ukraine
