War in Ukraine

Putin has been threatening this for weeks now and the meddling by the West has not only not slowed, but increased as have attacks on Russian territory. The Russian people are getting fed up with Putin's restrained responses. So, now both the West and the Russian people seem to both be provoking Putin into doing something stupid.

Putin looks terrifying with a Nutcracker ballet breaking out behind him.

Seriously though, putin's not going to nuke anyone - and the rest of his "saber rattling" is about as terrifying as butter knife getting dropped on the ground.

All is well…

You remember the last time a nation went about consolidating their hold over the Pacific? Even more interesting is that at that same time another country was invading it's neighbors........ The parallels are impossible to ignore.

And your final argument is that it's our fault if Putin does "something stupid."

First, he already has. Invading Ukraine was monumentally dumb. Second, if this is what you are left with, it's a sure sign that Putin is on the ropes, internally.

The sooner he is out of the picture, the better. His only prayer to survive this is to negotiate some minor victory. And get out of Ukraine.

I’m guessing Pootin is the Rat King here.

Well when your government teaches children that as a baby their dear leader floated down the river on a giant leaf and that is how he came to be, then that is pretty nuts. They also are lead to believe that their leader doesn't ever have to poop from what I understand.

Well, that last sentence may be true. His whole life he’s looked like he’s never missed a meal and never jettisoned any of them either.

Sure. I dont know who Stepan Bandera is but to think Ukrainians and Russians aren't the same race means someone has been feeding you spoiled borscht.

There may have been a proliferation of races like sexes recently. Divisions and diversities seem to be the rule of the day lately, and apparently you can't have too many of them.

So it's our fault if Putin nukes the World, you have reached a new level of stupidity. Why are you bad at opinions? I don't think I have ever read worse opinions on any subject matter by a functioning adult. His threats are precisely why many nations distrust and flat out do not like the Russian government. They are as bad as the North Koreans for threatening nuclear war. It's really all they have to be quite honest.

Yeah I was wondering if I could say that quiet part outloud. Is it ok to genocide the native population and move in your own or not? I know it's bad when America did it. But maybe it's different when the Russians did it 100 years later. And then again about another 100 years after that. And then again about 60 years after that.

Apparently it's hard to keep those other people down. I wonder what the term is for periodic ethnic or national eradication when "genocide" is out of favor - the mere mention seems to stir people up, but maybe if you call them Nazis it works. The Russians used to carry out Jewish purges they called pogroms, so maybe that could be reapplied more generically and less religiously.

Pretty much said the same thing a week or two ago. The Donbas cauldron was going to be costly for Ukraine. Even if his estimate is off by half, that is still 1000 mostly Ukrainian men with a few mercs mixed in.

So on the one hand you argue that the ethnic group doesnt matter, Ukrainians may want to be separate from Ukraine. But then you argue that it does matter because Ukrainkian is different from Russian, but a nation can consist of multiple groups.

If a nation exist with multiple groups why does it matter if Ossentians are different from anyone else?

If it's a pure choice issue and nationality/ethnicity doesnt matter, why's Russia trying to take away Ukraines choice. Both now, in regards to donbass, but also in the future with NATO/the west, and even the election of it's own leaders.

In this situation is you respect the wants of a relatively few Donbassians, you ignore the wants of more Ukranians (nation), as well as any donbassian that wants to stay. You are picking and choosing based on what agrees with your pro Russian slant rather than sticking to any predefined consistent rule.
South Ossetia and Transnistria actually declared their independence all the way back in the early 90s.

I am not picking and choosing. I have no problem with most independent movements. Especially after what happened with the former Yugoslav Republic. Why is Kosovo allowed to be their own nation but Donetsk is not?

And it's not really Russia or Ukraine's choice. It should be left to the people of Donetsk and Luhansk. If they want independence then it should be fine.
