War in Ukraine

You call it "stupid as hell", but it is the practical stance. What other choice does Western Europe have? They can't replace Russian energy imports (at the moment). They are finally coming around to that realization. The pragmatic approach would be to be more diplomatic and less belligerent rather than acting like a bunch of karens.
Yes yes we know Moe the West should just give Pootin what he wants. Thanks once again for your valuable insight 🤡

It’s a European problem. Europe has chosen to deal with it. The more you screech in protest the more they clearly are making the correct decisions.

Disclaimer so I don’t get called a Russian bot : ( Plating devil’s advocate here )… Does anyone think that the western powers should try to explain to Ukrainian authorities why this is a bad idea ? @MontyPython
Why do you think it is? Since that idiot Putin won’t listen if they start prosecuting the officers as war criminals then word should spread in the officer corps over time. It’s an extreme measure I agree but based on the behavior of the invading bastards thus far maybe ratchet the individual responsibility up a tad?

Edit: they absolutely should apply the Geneva Convention rules however. Let a war crimes court decide. But I can’t fault civilians dishing out some vigilante Justice. The Ukraine military doesn’t get that option however if a combatant surrenders then he needs to be treated accordingly. If the Ukraine military encounters the remains of an invading bastard that surrendered to civilians … oh well.

If we are going to honest and not hypocritical when we declare war crimes and not using the ol’ “everything is fair in love and war theory “ every western pilot , drone operator , commander and country leader would be subject to these same conditions. Just the amount of civilians that we have killed in the name of righteousness along would be staggering not including any other country that we were fighting with or was fighting with us . I’ll even exclude the world wars and just use . Korea , Vietnam, and the gulf wars as examples of incursions into other countries . I don’t fault civilians for doing whatever In defense of their country but putting a pilot on trial for war crimes during a war because his bombs killed civilians may be one of the slipperiest slopes of all .

Meanwhile, reality is gradually setting in with regard to these sanctions.

Also, looks like all of that claptrap and nonsense about not paying for energy in rubles is being walked back, also. Notice that the payment method that they are explaining right here is not some new scheme that the Euros have cooked up, but part of the original plan that Putin laid out weeks ago where they pay Gazprom Bank in USD or Euros and then Gazprom converts them to rubles. This article is leading you to believe that the Euros have found a work around when in fact they are trying to gaslight you and hide the fact that they are actually capitulating to Putin's original demands.

Ah ok. Yeah that is a valid point I agree.

Then how would we buy influence?
How many of our most important domestic problems can be solved by spending more money?
How much of our budget is for foreign aid? Does every dollar of foreign aid negate the same amount of domestic spending?
Does that include humanitarian relief?
We don't need to buying influence.

It all depends on if the money is used to actually try and fix problems here at home. Much of the money tends to go friends and family members of politicians and nothing gets done. There is also the issue of money going to large corporations. Large corporations shouldn't be getting any money from the government.

Zero of our budget should go to foreign aid until most of our problems at home are solved.

There are private charities that provide humanitarian relief. If people are concerned about humanitarian relief they are free to donate to those private charities.

How does it feel knowing that Moe, Larry, and Curly are smarter than you?

Sounds to me like the Russians are taking a pounding. Ukraine's line has held and repelled Russian attacks. A handful of towns have been taken back by Ukraine over the last 48 hours.
