Yeah this is becoming the de-facto relationship that Europe is moving torwards with the Baltic States. Basically they're going to ship their old Soviet tanks in exchange for newer Western tanks backfilled. Germany has bought into this relationship as well. Supposedly.

The difference being that Russia could field several hundred more if it chose to but we shouldn't confuse a large standing army with military power. Much of what Russia possesses is out of date and extremely vulnerable to anti tank weapons. How long can Ukraine continue to hold out will be the big question? If they can continue to put up a cohesive defense for 2-3 more months, it will inflict extremely costly losses to the Russian military. Russia should be able to take Ukraine eventually due to its overwhelming numbers but are they willing to do it at all costs? They shouldn't but they might just to spite the West. They would never be able to hold Ukraine outside of a few major cities. It would require massive numbers of troops and resources.

An interesting thread re: whats going on in China with Covid/supply chain impacts. So, to sort of change topics but also sort of inline with this topic, what's the thought in regards to China. Are they really taking their Covid outbreak this seriously over 2 years after the initial outbreak? Or is there a bigger play going in behind the scenes with this as sort of a cover?

China's problem is and has always been repression otherwise their government wouldn't exist. The other thing at play here is that it is very likely China has kept quiet their Covid deaths and its impact on China. It wouldn't make sense to have such Draconian measures in a country barely impacted by it. I would suspect that it is a combination of both. They are simply using it as an excuse to crack down on dissent and prevent further costly outbreaks.

As a follow up, if China ever decides to invade Taiwan or any other country on Earth with the ability to fight back, we should sacrifice every available piece of military equipment to inflict a toll on their government that it cannot overcome. They are the true enemy of the US and the West no matter how much crap I give Volgr.

Yes, but it is backfiring on them. They were afraid Covid deaths among their aging population would signal their incompetence and cause destabilization (their number one fear). However, the draconian lockdowns, particularly the newest ones, are causing public opinion about the CCP to change, particularly among the younger crowd.

Crazy thing is if China doesn't do something soon, they won't be able to to do so for a long time. Their age demographic is worse than Russia's. Who knew limiting their citizens to one child would create a huge surplus of the older generation and a small youth population comparatively.

That's just the tip of the iceberg with China, too.

We may all be effed. I am seeing supply chain issues that give me grave concerns. Nothing like I’ve seen in my 25 years of work. And the scary part is I am not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel.

None. The fact that raw and only lightly refined stuff is hard to find is scary.

That may be true for the campaign area. But no way that's true for all of Russia. They had over 11k tanks in reserve.

Unless they are saying all Ukrainian tanks vs just the active russian ones there is zero possibility. Even that though I find very difficult to believe.
