That’s the point. In case the starting QB gets injured.
You’re reading just a bit too much into it.
Maybe.
If Tannehill goes down, who leads them - Logan Woodside, Kevin Hogan? OK, I'm sure that scares the bejeezus out of opposing DC's. Especially since the starter Tannehill isn't scaring any of them currently with his self-destruction. This O-line does not project out to be dominating, which means Tannehill is going to get hit a lot - again. Two of its remaining starters play as walking wounded nearly every game. Maybe acknowledging that Woodside and Hogan are not going to be able to do the job well enough to win is the right thing to focus on.
I'm saying that since they did not go big at QB in the FA/trade market period, they could draft the future QB at #26 subject to who is still on the board, or, trade down for picks and take a developmental guy, or, make the trade of Tannehill on draft day if somebody is dumb enough to do it (doubtful). In the first two scenarios they are drafting for the future while Tannehill is still the established starter. Sitting behind an experienced guy for a season or two is not a bad thing. If an injury occurs at least you have the future starter getting snaps.
So many holes to address mixed with a weak QB class. Unless they just really love a guy who falls to them (Pickett maybe?), I can't see it.
We could have the worst CB situation in the entire NFL next year. IDK who will play RT. We need help at OLB, our center is 34, we need a 3rd WR.
Kiper has us taking Dotson but with Linderbaum still on the board. I want a WR but if everyone in the first group is gone, I think there's a drop with Dotson. I'd prefer we draft the guy who may be a hall of fame level center for the next 10-12 years.
Some of the draft analysts are also seeing the Titans go O-line in the first round. They think that with Brown, Woods and Hooper there will not be a lot balls thrown to others in this O and that they can add a quality receiver later since the draft is deep at the position. I am starting to come around to that line of thinking because the best WR's are likely to be gone by the time they get to #26.
I just hope Woods actually works out. Reynolds was a major flop here after showing promise in LA. I just don’t know if success in that offense translates to meaning anything in ours.
But I do agree with the overall point. With a WR like AJ already on the roster, there is just no need going that way in round 1 unless you’re certain you’re getting a guy like the next Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson.
Actually been scratching my head over all the WR projections for that reason. OL makes more sense. Also wouldn’t mind another good DB or pass rusher. Can never have too many of those, especially with all this QB power concentrated in the AFC.
I know thats just a concept...
But that looks terrible lol
Unpopular opinion but Brown is the most important player on this offense and maybe on the team overall (Simmons being the other option). Make him happy.
