The Atlanta Braves

You guys really burying the lede talking about snit’s bullpen quotes

Snit said he liked the progress Ynoa made tonight

If no swings/misses and 100 EV is the goal then he is progressing nicely!

We bitch about Snit(I do myself a lot), but all he's done is win and has a WS ring.

Ned Yost, Davey Martinez, and Dave Roberts we’re all generally loathed by their fan base and I would not classify as “great managers” but won the WS. Snit did pretty good last year in the playoffs for the most part but managers just aren’t that important with how much the front office is involved with personnel decisions and strategy.

Now Snit has the job for life because he’s a Braves man and he won the World Series. And yes it’s April, not the end of the world. But no reason to use Newcomb and Stephens when you have Collin McHugh and Tyler Thornburg that can be used and you have a day off Thursday.

Did he really have no swings and misses? That doesn’t seem right.

That doesn’t mean you have to your two worst relievers chief.

Also Tyler Matzek was warming up. What changed after Minter and O’Day that made you throw in the towel?
The worst part is not necessarily who he choose to use/not use whatever. We were losing the game throughout and never fully threatened to take a lead. Snit could have given the offense a much better chance but whatever.

The issue is that he warmed up Matzek and Smith and then didn’t pitch them. There are several varying degrees to warming up but once a guy is “hot” you’ve already used him anyway. Bring him into the game.

We don’t always know from TV and I didn’t see Matzek throwing, but Will Smith was full on letting it rip.

Snit did “pretty good” in the postseason because he just pitched the guys every day. He didn’t have to decide anything.

I don’t think he has the job for life. Losing Freddie is a problem for snit. He’s got no one in that dugout.

Snit is a good clubhouse guy, but I still feel he manages his team and staff like a minor league manager.

Who do we get though, Do we give Wash a chance? I'd consider since he has the grat relationship with Ozzie and Ronald.

He’s not getting fired in-season. There would be a long line of people wanting this job. Hell I bet we could even lure Jamey Chadwell out of Conway, South Carolina!!

I wasn't talking mid season. I dont remember what his contract is, but I was thinking more retiremen in the next few years.

Not a rhetorical question - is there any manager currently in MLB who seems to consistently make the right tactical calls? As much as we like to give Snit a hard time, it seems like he's one of 30 managers fans consistently complain about. Who are the current Bill Belichick/Andy Reid/Sean McVay of MLB managers? It seemed like at one point Joe Maddon had that reputation, but you could argue they won the 2016 WS in spite of some head-scratching decisions he made in the playoffs.

Baseball might be the sport most decided by the players. Managers have a limited impact on the outcome of games due to the nature of baseball, and their value is more with clubhouse management.

The Philly year was weird but Gabe Kapler is actually really good.

100% . . . They have more of a big picture impact on team culture than a strategic affect on the game. The impact of managers is probably even more diminished now with analytics telling us that batting order doesn't really matter, bunting is worthless and the 3 batter rule and Universal DH have taken even more decisions off the manager.

Interested to see this. Weird that everyone is batting their best guy second all of a sudden..
