You do realize Putin and Russia, like Ukraine's own president, are fully onboard with this shift to " green energy" like many other countries are promoting? Russia is expected to be a major global player in this market in the future. There are reportedly over 500,000 tons of lithium reserves in eastern Ukraine alone. If Russia controls the Donbas region then they have access to the majority of these reserves.

Russia itself is estimated to produce up to 50,000 metric tons of lithium per year by the 2030. That is what they are expecting to produce from their own mines.

I'm not for the mass electrification of vehicles but that seems to be what is being pushed amongst the masses for the future. In order for this to happen lithium is required.

So yes. Russia is going to be fine. They don't have to depend on the West in order to survive. This is actually part of Putin and Russia's Eurasia goal. This is why I don't rely on the news media as my main source of information. I suggest many of you guys and gals start doing the same.

Because there are no green house gases coming out the tail pipe I believe. I think that’s about the total thought put into it regardless of how the electricity charging the batteries is generated. There are newer lithium derivatives like the lithium sulfate (?) compounds that have higher energy density but best I can tell all of the battery approaches getting money thrown at them still include elemental lithium in some form.

If the world was serious about clean energy there would be nuclear reactors everywhere.

They have been investing HEAVILY into their arctic oil field production which is now in limbo since nobody will assist them. That’s it. Russia is not a player in lithium production. Between the two of us I’m the only one that actually provided a link from an actual world wide auto manufacturer stating their electric vehicle plans as well as the known supplies and reserves of lithium.
