War in Ukraine

We have no idea how genuine of a revolution the 2013/2014 chaos was because of the US State Department and NGOs involvement. Let's not ignore that. Was that really the will of the people or was that a seditious program carried out and funded by foreigners?

No different than what we are seeing in Pakistan.

Best not overstep your geographical bounds, skippy. Imran Khan is not the droid you are looking for. Move along.

Against the will of a certain segment of the people. You make it sound like the entire country was against it. And besides that, it is no justification for the US to step in and orchestrate a regime change operation.

Leaders around the world (including here in America) go against the will of the people all the time. So why was THIS particular situation so special?
Because the elected leader aligned to Putin against the majority will. So what if the US doesn't have backbone? Everyone should emulate our best qualities, not our worst.

Live updates: Russia invades Ukraine, country braces for major Donbas offensive

Wish it was better news, but..........

Damaged Russian warship is afloat, Pentagon says, amid conflicting reports from Ukraine and Russia
"The explosion was sizable enough that we picked up indications that other naval vessels around her tried to come to her assistance, and so eventually that wasn’t apparently needed. So she is making her own way across the Black Sea and we’ll continue to try and monitor this as best we can," he added.

Which is why you should never take at face value, the first report you hear in a war (or the second, or third, etc).

So you admit we played a role. Well, since you want to be liberator of the world, why don't you follow that same logic and explain why we got involved in Pakistan when the will of the people there was ignored last week.
I'm not familiar with the situation or the will of the people in Pakistan. Sometimes our interests go against the will of others. In the situation with Ukrainian it did not. Not sure I understand what your point is. We could become like Switzerland from the past I guess. But they were largely irrelevant aside from being the worlds money launderer.

lol......They misspelled his name.
Swinton developed an abhorrence for slavery while living in Charleston, South Carolina. He moved to New York City in 1857 where he began the studying medicine. Swinton also worked as a freelance journalist and in 1860 he was appointed as head of the editorial staff of the New York Times by Henry J. Raymond. Swinton held liberal views and was a strong supporter of Abraham Lincoln and wrote extensively about the American Civil War. Swinton left the newspaper in 1870.
Swinton took a keen interest in the growing trade union movement and according to one source, over the next few years he "was busy as an orator and writer, championing the cause of the poor and oppressed". In 1874 he was selected by the Industrial Political Party to be the candidate for Mayor of New York City. Swinton received very few votes but he later claimed that it was part of a propaganda campaign rather than a serious attempt to win power.

In 1875 Swinton found work with the New York Sun. He continued to campaign for the rights of organized labour and in 1877 gave his support to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman in their fight for better pay and conditions.

Many viewed him as a nut - he was far to liberal for the establishment.

We have no business getting involved in these petty azz regional conflicts all across the globe that has no direct or immediate or even teriary impact to the average American citizen.
I agree to a extent, but they all affect us in some way, even if we weren't involved in Ukraine we would still feel it. The world and it's economies are extremely interconnected, there's no possible way a conflict, particularly one in Europe wouldn't create tertiary or greater impacts on us.

If it wasn't the will of the people they would have rejected It, instead they elected another western aligned president after the first that was "installed".

The issue is Ukraine is divided, much like the US. Ukraine is corrupt but that is as much a result of years of Russian influence as anything. Russia is a horrible corrupt country. We have our issues for sure too though

What a lot of these Statists won't say out loud is that they support an autocratic, theocratic government akin to Hungary. There is probably a thread on here where they are actively supporting Orban's illiberalsim.

France seizes Roman Abramovich’s £90m Riviera villa - previously owned by the Duke of Windsor and used to entertain Churchill - along with £20BILLION of cash and homes belonging to Russian oligarchs

French authorities have seized Roman Abramovich's stunning villa in the south of France which once belonged to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor as part of a crackdown on Russian oligarchs amid the invasion of Ukraine.

Château de la Croë is situated on one of the most prestigious parts of the French Riviera - the Cap d'Antibes - and local estate agents estimate it is worth around £90million.

Abramovich spent some £30million restoring the Château after he bought it in 2001, building a 15 metre swimming pool on the roof and inserting a huge gym and home cinema in the basement to create the ultimate billionaire's play pad.
