The Official #1 Tennessee vs Tennessee Tech Tuesday Game Thread (6:30PM EST) (SEC NETWORK +)

Yes, feels very much like Lipscomb last year. It’s crazy how those plucky little in-state teams can do what Vandy and Ole Miss can’t, etc.

I agree! Just goes to show there are several good baseball teams across the state. There is a little extra when it comes to in state team games. Even though we lost, I thought it was a great night for baseball with that record crowd.

I missed Liam Spence leading us off night. He was so patient at the plate and always gave the rest of lineup a chance to look at all the different types of pitches.

Christian Moore is very talented, but impatient. I think it set the tone for the rest of the guys tonight.

I’d rather lead off Dickey, but I guess he’s gimpy at the moment. Seems like last year’s line-up basically never changed other than when Liam was out (or mixing in Greer/when Pav was out). This year has been all over the place except for Beck, Gilbert, Lipscomb and Lawson. Clearly some of that has been match-up based, but I wonder if we will settle into more of a permanent line-up at some point this year or keep mixing it up.

It would feel pretty weird based on where they’ve been in the order historically, but I could definitely get behind leading off Gilbert or Luc.

Bama is not a measuring stick.....
Maybe not, but they’re on a streak and are nationally ranked. All I’ve heard about is how well they’re playing.
I just stated facts about who they’ve lost to this year in hopes of helping some folks feel better about this loss.

Congratulations to TTU. They played well. Tn did not. Big crowd was probably disappointed with low energy Vols. Shouldn't be!

My heart races on Friday before SEC series. I usually don't know who we are playing, or care, on midweek games. Human nature, I guess. Baseball Vols are no different.

Neutral field for midweek game seemed odd. Real grass infield added to wooden bats was surreal. Apparently, players thought so too.

Umpires had a bad night as well. Beck was safe at third (and it was not close). Embarrassing to review and then let the call stand. Beck's run would have given us free baseball.

Good time to lose. Pressure release. Refocus. Go Vols.

would be wasting their big RBI, slugging, and power at lead off imho.

You all do realize in 2018 tech was 1 win away in the super regional from going to Omaha right? And before that won the ole miss regional...And coach bragga that took them there came back this yr...tech Is a good team
Tech is not a good team. They’ve lost 3 series to teams well below .500 and got obliterated by Lipscomb. What Bragga did with a team 5 years ago is irrelevant; this team is nowhere near what he had in 2017 and 2018.

What was it then?

A loss. Nobody wins all the games in a baseball season. It's been posted here a hundred times: All it takes for a superior team to lose to an inferior team is a hot pitcher. Tonite they had a guy pitching out of his mind. (And a little help from the ump with a ridiculous strike zone, I'll grant you that). These mid-majors have guys on their teams that are capable of beating #1 teams on their best days. Again: Nobody wins all the games in a baseball season. And nobody even comes close.
