War in Ukraine

China is much smarter (and richer) than Russia - they will take Taiwan without a single shot being fired. Putin only acted because he saw Russia's position growing weaker. China has only to wait ATM, as they grow stronger and as they buy corrupt Taiwan businesses with our money. Besides, there is no benefit to destroying Taiwan, since they need the factories intact. Meanwhile the US has grown weaker and showed utter folly in Afghanistan. We have shown ourselves to have sharp swords but weak hearts and dull minds.
The longer China waits and works the buying of politicians the better off they are. However contrary to the Russian clown show military, China is a real force and would indeed over take Taiwan in a week or so if we didn’t intercede. And do so without massive collateral damage. And if we’ve shown no intestinal fortitude to impede that campaign then there is no reason for them to wait. Thus why shutting down Putin in Ukraine now is so important and forcing China to continue the long play soft invasion tactic.

If China invaded Taiwan there would be massive devastation whether we interceded or not. The Taiwanese have worked and trained for an invasion for decades.

While discussing great Russian poets - I leave you this quote from the inimitable Fyodor Tyutchev that explains so much of how the Russians think of themselves.

You can't understand Russia with your brain,
You can't measure it with the standard instruments:
She has a particular status –
In Russia you can only believe.

or another translation of the same verse by educator John Dewey
Who would grasp Russia with the mind?
For her no yardstick was created:
Her soul is of a special kind,
By faith alone appreciated.

I honestly don’t think so no. If we get caught flat footed and they invade unimpeded they would swiftly take the capital and install their own government. Yes they would engage in urban warfare and yes they would be ruthless to any opposition be it military or civilian. But I think they can do it with precision and keep the devastation to humans and not infrastructure.

China is our only peer today. Assume they can and would carry out the same precision and lethal strikes we do.

You can’t judge China’s capability by a fourth rate incompetent Russian military at this point.

China's military has not been tested in many decades. It would be impossible to avoid massive collateral damage if they truly invaded. But again, they will simply continue to build naval power and lock down the China sea. See also that they do not have a recent history of frontal attacks. China knows it is far better to encircle with strength and only when the battle is a fait accompli, THEN make your move and your opponent surrender without a single shot.

This is the art of fighting without fighting.

See my post above. China is our only peer today. Russia hasn’t been a peer for a long time. They are dangerous and can inflict damage but they aren’t a peer.

Taiwan would put up a hell of a fight on their own which would be devastating to the island infrastructure. China would win and take over but would have a hell of a rebuilding job afterwards. I think they will keep playing the long game in buying western and Taiwanese politicians and bureaucrats so in the end they take over without firing a shot. It'll be cheaper that way.

You arent fighting them dumb dumb, you are sitting in your easy chair behind your phone. You are, however, willing to sacrifice Ukrainians because you have been duped into believing this is somehow good for the US.

It's cowardice and evil, pure and simple.
You are willing to sacrifice Ukranians because....Russia?

If the Ukrainians are wanting to fight, who are we to say otherwise? Either they are a sovereign nation or they arent. Right now Russia is the only one threatening Ukraines sovereignty. The worst we are doing is accommodating their wants.

And yet, if a neighboring state had attacked Ghana and invaded, I seriously doubt a single Ukrainian would have given a piss (nor would many others for that matter).

Its amazing what a good media campaign will do for you, eh?
Yeah look what it has done to Ras and Volgr.

Well, so far the first simp for Ukraine has failed to war game it out...
BS, you nor anyone else knows what will or might happen. To pretend that you have some superior, or inside knowledge as to what would come next is laughable.

As long as they have no compelling reason to pull up their agenda it’s in their best interest to play the long game. And I’ve seen enough of our asshat idiot politicians to know that it’s not a matter of if the ChiComs will be marching in the Taiwan capital but when. Our feckless “leaders” will roll over and let Xi scratch their belly as Taiwan falls. And when that happens the word electronics market goes back to the dark ages.

China is nowhere close to being our peer militarily. They do have ginormous land forces but navy and air force are still way back. They are working mighty hard to catch up, however and it is merely a matter of time. Beyond that, they are very untested. One thing about US military these days is that America is one of the few countries with a substantial military that actually has been able to rotate their soldiers into a live war zone nearly continuously in the past few decades. That has made our light infantry tactics (which used to really suck) vastly better. Now, in some ways, we have the opposite problem. The last conventional war was Saddam and we rolled that like a hot knife through butter. We havent really had to improve on pitched battle strategies against similar powers but as far as in the field experience, we are still light years ahead of China, where not one NCO or field officer has ever been shot at.

LMAO.

Hidden in the U.S. judge ruling last week ordering the seizure of Vekselberg's yacht: "The Department of Justice's seizure echoes the message of the brake Ukrainian soldiers of Snake Island."
