Pretty much. We were above average nationally in most efficiency categories last year. A lot of 50th-60th rankings...up from 80s-100s in Pruitt's last defense. It was not a bad defense overall at all. 3rd down was simply our breaking point though.
Kinda reminded me of third and Chavis.

Here's the deal, and where things stand at the moment; he [BHH] met with the staff late this week and from what I have gathered it really didn't end well. Not going to go into detail but he apparently didn't hear what he was hoping to hear or get assurances he was after.

As of right now he is not in the portal, though it does sound like things are heading that way. However, someone we spoke with this afternoon told me that based on past history they wouldn't be shocked if the young man called and said he changed his mind he was staying.

Tennessee will not be chasing him to stay, I can say that with some conviction based off what I've heard this afternoon. The ball is in his court, but doesn't sound great at the moment.

From the very end of CTV’s postgame media appearance Saturday night:

Question: What did you think of Coach Heupel’s first pitch?

CTV: It was good. So, one of our knuckleheads, okay, it was a coach cause I’ve educated our players on who he is. I won’t say what coach. It’s a younger guy, and he said, oh, a southpaw. I was like, dude, you’ve never seen this guy throw a football? And he says, naw, and I said he’s a left handed Patrick Mahomes. Anyone who disagrees with that comment, obviously Patrick kept getting better and better in the NFL. This is the same guy in college, but left handed, and it was fun to see him out there. It’s fun to see, every now and then I’ll sneak over there at practice. It’s kind of a cool vibe that’s going on over there right now. Wish I could jump in the mix every now and then and hang out with those guys but it was fun to hang out with him for a few minutes in the dugout, and it was a strike, which isn’t easy cause Kirby Connell is definitely not a professional catcher. So he’s got one up on Peyton Manning, if I can say that.

Question: When you say hang out, do you mean strap on the pads and helmet?

CTV: No, No, No, No, No, No. Just be over there. They’ve always got a DJ going on, and I mean, our manager shouldn’t take offense. He’s good with the music, but they kind of, when you walk over to that building, every school that I’ve worked at, including Coach Pinkel, was incredible at his job. Whenever I would walk over there, to a football space, you get, there’s an energy, like there was in the park tonight, and something over there just feels like there’s a lot of positive vibes and everyone is upbeat and that’s step one to doing the things you want to do on the battlefield, and again, I think that’s an attribute of our players.
Dude is even recruiting for the football team in postgame comments. Absolute legend.

ArkyTentLott so pissed that Mizzou catcher disrespecting the game by blocking the baseline. "Horrific!!!! Gonna tell my mom!!!"View attachment 446456
Are u allowed, according to the rules, to just freight train the guy, when he's blocking a straight path to home? And can u elbow to the face mask?

The major difference in Vols and most other college teams is pitching depth. Most of these teams have 3 to5 decent pitchers total. We have 5 top starters and 5 to 6 good bullpen arms. Not many able to match that. Most of these other teams belong in McGill's landfill!

Agree…..Sunday games going to be like the opponent has one arm tied behind their back. Just watch…..fully expecting a BOMB fest today.

So, I think we stand a really good chance of getting the sweep tomorrow.

Next weekend we get Bama. Just like their basketball team, Jekyll and Hyde. Just won the series against Ole Miss, but also have losses to UT Martin and North Alabama. We can seriesly sweep them at home next week and get to 15.

The following weekend is gonna be the tough one. On the road against Florida, who just took the series from #2 Arkansas. Don't like how that one lines up.
They are already "chomping" at the bit for us... One game at a time-- this is not an easy schedule by any means.

Tony V has seen the Ole Miss crazy football game antics, (and had fun with it) he's watched the VOLS win the SEC championship (and ha worn a Z tee-shirt) He really is the gem of our program right now. College world Series with a team nobody expected and breaking all kinds of records. Other teams whining that our VOLS are too cocky, etc. They would love to have him. He's young, fun and one of the best coaches out there. If he wants a DJ for his team practices, I'm sure our AD would be happy to get him one.
