War in Ukraine

Quit skirting your true feelings and come to terms with it. It's obvious to everyone but you apparently. You support Russia because you've come to hate America. I don't know what I've had to do with the other but apparently you feel like you have to support one if you dislike the other......

My true feelings have nothing to do with supporting Russia or hating America. The issue is, the pros and cons of limiting free speech.

Why are you supporting and cheerleading unnecessary casualties?
They believe it necessary obviously. Supporting them in their fight for self determination and their homeland isn't cheerleading death. Supporting Russia is however, they brought the fight to Ukraine.

But they are in no way similar nor do they produce the same result. Facebook jail and fines with prison aren't remotely the same.

No FB jail and real jail isnt the same. However, Doctors having a contray opinion on Covid and having their livelihood stripped away does produce the same result as jail. Influencers/pundits/journo's having their social media taken or their column/radio/tv show taken due to being "cancelled" does produce the same result. Youtubers having to make up code words to get around censorship or risk being demonetized or kicked off the platform, does produce the same result. There is a reason for the term silent majority, because people are afraid to speak out in public on topics others in power regard as off limits.

There were a lot of small town newspapers and people in even remote areas could get newspapers by mail.

Of course they could, most did not because they were more concerned with their family’s issues. Most people lived and died within 20 miles of their birthplace, the had little concern with national issues or even state issues.

The people in 1800 were also well enough informed to know that you couldn’t „add daylight“ to a Day simply by adjusting your clock back one hour. Something even Congress now seems incapable of comprehending

List the doctors who had their livelihood stripped away because they disagreed with Covid policies. Many lost patients because they implemented idiotic policies but that was self inflicted not fired through government force. The “silent majority” was a reference to voters who were mentally engaged in politics but were not vocal in their beliefs because they were too busy working not because they were afraid. They had jobs and their politics stopped and started at the kitchen table. Your history, economics, and geography teacher failed you.

So then it wasn't an issue of access. From what I have read and heard, folks even in the sticks were pretty up to date on current issues in the mid to late 1800's. Of course there were those that didn't care to be informed, just like today.

In 1850 64% of Americans lived on farms and most of those were subsistence situations. Today, US farms only account for 1.3% of the workforce. There really is no comparison in lifestyle, economy, access to information, or societal norms.

„Access to information“ has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge. Did you ever use to watch Jaywalking on the tonight show? Good golly but there are some uniformed people out there

To quote my Mother, "Most people are stupid".
And that is a constant theme throughout history. The only difference is that more people THINK they are smart now than at any time in history. The internet has worsened this problem as people now have Access to a vast oven of „information“ that is thousands of miles wide but barely 2 inches deep

Listen to people who do polling. Americans are tough to acurately poll on touchy subjects because people are afraid to give their true feelings. Silent majority may have meant something different many years ago, but that is what it means today.

I have 110 employees and six full time managers to deal with them all. Some of them keep saying "careful this person is smart" and I have had to remind them that they aren't smart, they are clever. Its a subtle difference but the reality is if they were smart they'd know to stfu and do their jobs. Instead they try to be clever and game the system and it never works out well for them.
