The Atlanta Braves

I still don’t get it. How has Tennessee disrespected the game?
Do you follow the team at all? Ha. They play hard AF and I wouldn’t say they “disrespect the game” but basically every single thing they do is “disrespectful” to the opponent. It’s pretty easy to see how they’re extraordinarily unlikeable. I can’t believe ol Corbs crying to the media about it tho.

The ultimate 😢 😢 😢

What does "treating the game well" mean, and why does baseball (you could also argue hockey, but separate topic altogether) only seem to have this code?

IMO, we'd still be unlikable even if we acted like Mr. Rogers. Tennessee does not have a great baseball program historically, and is really far removed from the last period of time when it was really good. The current powers of the sport (of which Vandy might be preeminent among them) never like it when a new team emerges.

Literally happens in every sport is my point. I don’t get all the “disrespect” because it’s what happens in sports. Just beat us if you want it to stop. Until then, have some.

The way they, and specifically Vitello, act is not what “happens in sports”

They play with a serious edge. It has a hand in what makes them so good but their behavior is not normal.

75% of the perceived disrespect is purely because Tennessee is a "new kid on the block" team. Other clubs almost always have negative and condescending opinions about those teams, even if they play nice. Old money and new money rarely get along.

Are opposing clubs really that mad about Daddy hats, pimp coats, celebrating, etc.? I don't deny that Tennessee plays with an edge, but are they doing anything beyond the pale? They don't like it because Tennessee used to be a whipping boy and now they are doing some whipping themselves. Arkansas in particular hates it because TV was supposedly pulling in most of their good players when he was there, and now they seem him doing it at another school.

If Tennessee carried themselves this way and we were mediocre, we'd just get laughed at. It only makes people mad when you're good.

Lol yes. I dont have a problem with it at all, but it’s definitely American legion stuff lol. Which is why it has guys like Corbin and the Arky coach up in arms, and praying for them to fail so badly.

75% of you guys bitch when Bryce Harper stares at a ball an extra second and want him hit and you guys act surprised Tennessee is considered the bad guys 😂
I'm not shocked they are considered bad guys - I'm just saying most of the reason they are considered bad guys is because they are winning. They'd still get some hate if they acted like choir boys.

I don’t agree but posting the same thing 4 times is definitely going to get me to agree.

What is beyond the pale? The use of props certainly isn't.

When they get a big hit they kneel down on the base and celebrate by at best breaking an egg on their face and at worst making a strong sexual innuendo but that’s totally normal behavior.

They incessantly talk ****, very loudly, the entire game but that’s totally normal behavior.

My guy yacks a bomb and immediately grabs/inspects the bat.

The head coach is mockingly saying we have forged transcripts and 35 year old dudes named Mike Honcho mashing dingers while sitting in the dugout for a live television mid game interview but that’s totally normal behavior.

I don’t have a problem with anything they are doing. In fact, I love it. It motivates them to play better. But they are certainly not acting totally normal and they are not hated simply because they are winning.

And all of those instances are within the last week (!)

If you wanted to document an entire list of their totally normal behavior during the Tony Vitello era you would need an Old Testament biblical scroll or roughly 3.5 posts from 05.
