War in Ukraine

Evidently there is a large forest east of the nuclear facility that is extremely radioactive since it was downwind of the leak point. Apparently it was an opening in the Ukrainian defensive lines because they wouldn't go into that area even for a short time. The Russians apparently just sent their troops through the forest even setting up camps there. Looks like those conscripts will be future cancer patients.
Yeah, its been great for the wildlife there over the years with no people about.

I watched a show on the exclusion zone and you're right, wildlife and fauna have flourished within it. There's also a few people that have moved back in.

Russia hasn't changed its war strategies since World War 1. They haven't seen a battlefield they weren't willing to slaughter thousands of their infantry. They killed more of their own troops on the useless battle of Stalingrad than the US did during the entire WW2, and Vietnam campaigns combined.

Raising interest rates, limiting stock trading etc, that's just a couple of examples, others have posted in more detail here.
Well, the US should be raising rates to address inflation, so what they are doing on that front isn't a gimmick, but sound policy.

The stock trading isn't that big of a deal. Not minimizing the initial shock they have suffered so far, but their equity markets will be restored to a reasonable level again over the next few months.

They probably should have him take off that mask while speaking on the phone to other countries if they plan on using the photo opt to instill power and security . First thought that comes to mind is a frail, sick , fearful old man , trying to convince a healthy , vibrant , young woman , that she needs him .

Yeah except the actual contracts provide for payments in dollars. Is Putin willing to lose his last income stream?
Well, the contracts were voided essentially when the sanctions were applied. You can't demand USD in contracts and then sanction them. Force majeure...

What party did Navalny belong to when he was poisoned and sentenced to prison for daring to run against Putin?
He belongs to Russia of the Future. According to Wikipedia it was founded in 2012. It's more of a pro European party. Which might explain why he is loved by western media.

United Russia has actually had majority control since 2007. There is also a Liberal Democratic Party. Don't let that name fool you. It's more of a nationalist perhaps even ultranationalist party and considered right wing/far right.

Literally no one is wearing masks in stores anywhere or complaining
I still see people wearing masks and still some businesses making their employees wear masks. To some people the mask has become part of their identity during covid and will be hard to part ways with it. There are probably even some people who are against the covid vaccine and are wearing masks because they are afraid of the vaccine shedding. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

BREAKING: CBS News and the Washington Post have obtained White House records turned over to the House, which show a gap in President Donald Trump's phone logs of seven hours and 37 minutes on January 6.

Internal White House records from the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol that were turned over to the House select committee show a gap in President Donald Trump's phone logs of seven hours and 37 minutes, including the period when the building was being violently assaulted, according to documents obtained by CBS News' chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa and The Washington Post's associate editor Bob Woodward.

The lack of an official White House notation of any calls placed to or by Trump for 457 minutes — from 11:17 a.m. to 6:54 p.m. — on Jan. 6, 2021 means there is no record of the calls made by Trump as his supporters descended on the U.S. Capitol, battled overwhelmed police and forcibly entered the building, prompting lawmakers and Vice President Mike Pence to flee for safety.

Oh! so that's why you're opining Trump is selling state secrets and waging espionage on corporate and government networks.
