Tbh without a QB battle or a superstar 5* newcomer (like Nico, Tate, Burley, Bradley and others will be next year 😁)...I'm just not caring a ton about Spring practice. But one thing seems to be a lot of people rotating at RT from what little I've read.

Someone that's actually following the OL closely - who do you see as our starting LT this year? Backup? Any chance we take a late portal guy or do we feel comfortable there?

Wish we had one more year of Velus. Underrated burner that's finally getting his due.
He was a beast at YAC. Hopefully Hyatt, Calloway, Holiday can fill in that regard. Probably others - squirrel(?).

Might be wrong, but Tillman and Bru seem more possession and deep pass (high ADOT) guys.

100% wish we had 1 more with VJJ.

I'm not a coach but I do have experience at the HS level. That was 50 years ago. I had to fill in for the HS coach one game. Anyway, in watching McCoy's highlights it's obvious he is a really physical player. I've seen people talking about his prowess as a possible edge rusher, not that we would use him there, just that he's that type of player. It reminded me of Jennings when he got drafted and the HC of San Francisco said JJ could play different positions and he included safety as one of those positions, presumably because of JJ's physical style of play.

I know everybody is thinking McCoy is going to play on the outside and that's probably right but IIRC JJ operated out of the slot and while this is a (thankfully) totally different offense replacing VJ out of the slot may be more difficult than replacing Payton on the outside. I don't know but I was thinking what if McCoy was operating out of the slot. It's all about matchups, right? What position would be covering him? A linebacker isn't going to be able to cover him, I wouldn't think. jmo.

No matter where he plays he could be a game changer, taking our already quality receiving corps to a new level. jmo.

Here are our receiving stats for our games against Georgia and Alabama from this past year.

My father in law coached football and basketball at Kirkman High in the mid 60s. He had some great stories about that time.

Seems like the LT/RT will be decided by if they land another portal guy they covet as much as they did Steen. Personally I think it'll be between Wright, Crawford, or Mincey. Most of camp they've had Crawford/Mincey at LT and Dayne/Wright at RT.

Milton staying here because he loves the school and his teammates, but we'll still have idiot fans making jokes at his expense.
I vow not to make one overthrow joke about Joe Milton all year.

Wait, no I don't, but I will try my best not to.

Seriously, Milton seems like a really good dude.

Somebody that big in the slot would be a big surprise for the defense. They'd have to change their whole secondary game plan around

Definitely force at least nickel cause lb can't cover, but then u sacrifice size and you're screwed again! Love it
Probably a ludicrous idea... but with how physical he is...could he possibly hold up in blocking at (gasp) Tight End?? Then he'd be Kyle Pitts 2.0 on pass plays. Absolutely terrorize folks.

He'd just have to hold up on run plays...probably still a stupid idea, but would be intriguing. Bru at TE...Calloway, Hyatt, Tillman, Holiday at wideout. 5 guys running wild, forces prevent defense...then run it up the gut half the time into a wide open meadow. Defense wouldn't know what to do.

McCoy is a far more athletic guy, but I could see him being our version of Bowers for Georgia. Even as a TE he still had the 2nd highest YPC of anyone with 20 or more receptions on that team...imagine a guy you could lineup with the size of McCoy that has run away from you speed being able to use him as a standup TE when you're wanting to run tempo out of a 1 TE look.

I don't think we'll see him be a Payton type WR at all, I think he'd be a guy we'd be trying to target a lot more for the middle of the field passing game. The one move slots where if the Safety is cheating over to help on a deep threat speed guy McCoy makes the catch in stride and runs for days.

I hate the world we live in now...but my anger at all this stupidity is quickly turning to sadness. It is not a better world that the two stupid most recent generations are making; it is a jacked up, ugly world that makes no sense at all...😥
Romans 1...turned over

For the team to take the next step to 10-3 type of level. The defense has to get a bit better on third down. Get more stops and create more turnovers will turn a few games like the Gator and LSU games. Will allow for more offensive Opportunities. It’s like a balancing act all three sides play as one
100%.

LSU's all time great offense....also had a top 10 3rd down defense to get the ball back for them. It was not a great defense, but they got themselves off the field.

That is the last piece of our offensive puzzle...get more opportunities via defense.

Agreed. I can see a good fun season ahead

I would like to think this is true, but what Disney and other corporations, and the public school system are doing is clearly very real and very disturbing
Well, if there's anything that Hollywood has taught me this week, it's that if you don't like what's being said, slap the hell out of someone. Go for it man, let em know.
