While I surely have sympathy for the complete Realpolitik approach, I would desire to leave room for America to be the shining city on a hill. To be "the good" however, first requires that one must be "the wise", for tender hearts must be directed by wise heads. What has too long been the norm, is that selfish, evil heads have manipulated the tender hearts and idle hands for their own mischief-making - and that has led to our misfortune.

But who also had much further to go as well. Which is something many of you overlook. A Country doesnt go from what the Soviet Union was into a blossoming Democracy overnight or even within one generation. If you only look at the last 30 years, Russia has made great strides, while America has slipped greatly.

They were fighting a somewhat capable force, Azovs and NATO trained Ukrainian forces, on their own turf and have slowly but surely accomplished their goals. Not done yet, but well on their way. Mostly rounded up the Azovs. Liberated Mauripol. Cauldroned the Donbas which will be taken soon. And did that while trying to minimize civilian casualties and disruptions, while also offering ceasefire and diplomacy throughout the process.

If your expectation was they would shock and awe Ukraine while taking Kiev in a week, then yeah, they failed to meet your goal which didnt look to be their goal.

It's odd that John Adams as POTUS ratified the Treaty of Tripoli by his signature that stated: "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."

it's almost like politicians, even founding fathers, will say whatever they need to say to the audience that they're standing in front of.
