War in Ukraine

WARNING - this aint pretty

SIAP - purports to show Ukrainian forces torturing captured Russian soldiers. Shocking Videos Allegedly Show Ukrainians Shooting And Torturing Russian POWs describes what is going on.

Might watch it fast before it is taken down. First saw it in a closed forum on Friday and it was taken down yesterday. Mind you, this is a forum for intelligence analysts and related folk so even there, it got removed. Before it got removed tho, there was a good bit of back and forth on how legit, upshot opinion of most is that it probably was not a fake, was a very bad look for Ukraine and should be investigated. A couple of guys in this film were reputed to have died.

Point to note is that Ukraine's recent law legalizing pretty much anything goes against invaders, would seem to make the actions in this tape not illegal (in the Ukraine)

Ukraine promises "immediate investigation" after video surfaces of soldiers shooting Russian prisoners
From CNN's Tim Lister, Celine Alkhaldi, Katerina Krebs and Josh Pennington

Video has surfaced showing what appear to be Ukrainian soldiers shooting men who are apparently Russian prisoners in the knees during an operation in the Kharkiv region.
On the almost six-minute-long video, the Ukrainian soldiers are heard saying they have captured a Russian reconnaissance group operating from Olkhovka, a settlement in Kharkiv roughly 20 miles from the Russian border.
Asked about the video, a senior presidential advisor, Oleksiy Arestovych, said in an interview posted on YouTube Sunday: "The government is taking this very seriously, and there will be an immediate investigation. We are a European army, and we do not mock our prisoners. If this turns out to be real, this is absolutely unacceptable behavior."

It's almost as if Ukraine is run by a corrupt, evil government that empowers corrupt, evil people and the US should do what they can to totally stay out of a bad guy on bad guy conflict with limited implications for American lives (if we stay out of it and shut blubbering Joe up).

But that opinion makes me a Russian Putinbot so maybe I ought not share it.

Jack Posobiec posted on his Twitter this afternoon where a Zelensky advisor was reminding troops to adhere to the Geneva Convention.

Patrick Lancaster once again has some good on ground reporting in this matter. His YouTube channel has even almost tripled in subscribers the past few weeks.

Too much has leaked on social media and via independent reporting that I guess CNN might have to start doing some real journalism maybe in this matter.

This mistreatment of Russian Ukrainians has been going on since 2014. Many of us already know this but sadly many do not because their "news" doesn't tell them. Sad we have people that blindly follow the mainstream media like that without question.

The news literally told Americans how corrupt Ukraine was as recently as months ago. Even outlets like the NYT were critical of Zelenskyy.

Until the other big bad guy invaded, then now the one corrupt bad guy is actually a bastion for freedom, democracy, and just all around being a good guy because other bad guy decided to be bad.

???????
Not sure what it is you are attempting to say. CNN's coverage has been top notch throughout.

Putin should have been a little smarter. This will go down as one of the biggest blunders ever.

The 2014 referendum vote is one piece of evidence. The amount of Russian passports accepted by Donbas citizens is another piece. The fact that they took part in Minsk I and II ceasefire agreements with the clear understanding of everyone involved that there wanted autonomy... or at the very least wanted nothing to do with the govt of Kiev.

I really can't believe you are asking this 8 years later, but oh well.

NATO (The US) moving closer to Russia, but especially moving towards Ukraine would be no different than China or Russia joining a military alliance with Mexico or Cuba. You know this, however. You want to pretend that NATO and the US are just innocent, peaceful little angels that wouldn't harm a fly.

To be clear, you're saying the May 2014 referendum legitimizes the invasion because the people of Donbas wanted independence?

The bold comment is ignorance of my history or flat dishonesty.

They aren't showing the full side of the story. Many of us know this. I suggest researching some independent journalists in this matter. I've recommended names and videos to watch. That's all I can do at this point.

You are right. They have been reporting on this for quite some time. A lot of this is political. Democrats were also hoping this war will increase Biden's popularity. It has not.

There are also even numerous videos on YouTube reporting on the neo Nazi and ultranationalist sentiment which has increased in popularity since 2014. As well as the massive corruption which has occurred in Ukraine over the years. Much of it involving U.S. politicians.

There were two incidents.

In 2014, Russia came in to secure their warm water port in Crimea as the US coup was taking place. In the resulting fallout, the US was able to successfully install their puppet Yatsenyiuk and the Donbas was ready to split away from the madness.

In this go around a month ago, after 8 years of attacks from the Kiev regime and failed attempts at getting the Kiev regime to follow the Minsk I ceasefire agreements, Russia came in at the moment that Kiev was planning on staging one more attack on the Donbas region with up to 60k of their best forces.
