The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

2021 CLE 3,010 17 13 83.1 60%

2021 TEN 3,734 21 14 89.6 67%

I guess they are just as good. Mayfield’s best completion % was 63% his rookie year. They gave him weapons and a ground game. He didn’t get better.

Meant to say 2020 stats. If you look at 2020 both QBs played at a high level.

Also if you looked at Mayfield’s early years vs Tannehill’s, Mayfield’s are better.

He may completely bust or you may hit big. Seems to be the type of move our GM loves (Farley, Simmons, Woods). And what’s the downside of swapping the two?

If Mayfield doesn’t work you let him go. No harm, no foul.

Sure, but there’s a lot to be said for backing your current QB instead of replacing him with a cheaper guy you know isn’t a long term solution.

Tannehill isn’t a long term option either. He’s what, 34?

If anything Mayfield would be more likely to be a long term option given his age and the fact that his early years look better than RT. Plus there’s nothing to lose. If he sucks it up, we cut him and move on

I think everyone knows Tannehill isn’t a long term solution and he’s almost on the wrong side of 30.

Mayfield stinks, both on and off the field. Let Tannehill ride out his contract, say thanks for the memories, and go get your next guy, don’t rush a short term fix.

If Baker is a top 15 QB like you say then who is he starting for next year? A couple teams still need a QB.

I don’t think I’ve ever said he’s a top 15 QB. He did have one season where he looked like he was a top 15 QB and he still has upside.

But you don’t think he will start for anyone in 2022?

That guy really said that Mayfield is just as good as Tannehill and then that Tannehill is just as good as Stafford.

Both Tannehill and Stafford are somewhere in that 10-15 range of QBs. Neither are elite.

Can you show me anytime I’ve said Mayfield is just as good as Tannehill?

He may be as good or better than Tannehill. His 2020 stats were great and better than anything Tannehill was doing during that time in his career. That doesn’t mean he will be better than Tannehill, but he has higher upside at this point and he’s cheaper

I’m convinced you don’t actually watch games

Right. I know nothing about football.

They obviously don't have any idea what you do. I may be one of the few.

I have not weighed in on this, until now. I would support getting Mayfield. I thought he was the best QB available in that draft. But he went to Cleveland and they have been a mess as an org for a long time. That affected him mentally as well as with the injury. Yet, there he was playing injured to try to get them to the playoffs.

Mayfield's weakness is he gets antsy trying to make plays. He needs to tone it down and play within the system and his abilities. But make no mistake, if he does that his ceiling is much higher than Tannehill and could be higher than Stafford. He has a lot to prove, which will makes him dangerous with the right team IMO.

I liked nothing about Tannehill's performance last season and the window for the team is now. You cannot regress like that after getting the big contract. That's when you need to step your game up when the team needs you after King Henry goes down and in the playoffs. A three way trade is about the only way it could happen though and J-Rob is on the record in support of Tannehill. Maybe during the draft something can happen.

Then tell us what he does? Put us all to shame.

Huh? Is vs may is what you’re parsing here? I’m not betting on a maybe knowing he’s not got the maturity to be a team leader to boot.

You said you would want to trade Tannehill for Mayfield? Why would you want the Titans to trade for a QB who is not better than the current QB?

And if Tannehill is as good as Stafford, then I guess we have a QB capable of winning of Super Bowl. Why would we trade that?
