The Supreme Court of the United States Thread

When I am elected President, i vow to nominate NO ATTORNEY for a Supreme Court vacancy. Would be the best thing ever for the court. The constitution was written to be able to be read and understood by the average citizen. It doesn’t require a sacred black robed priesthood to interpret

Agree. Hell, racist Slo Jo eliminated at least 95% of Americans from consideration from his racist misandrist nomination.

I've seen multiple speeches by the leading proponents of CRT that in direct conflict with the bolded. In their view you're either racist or anti-racist. If you're white and think you're not racist it's because of white fragility.

Do you seriously think parents are this upset over their kids being taught racism exists, or is it more likely that their kids are coming home with some really crazy views?
I believe what you are describing is more akin to anti-racism.

This is a big part of the problem. “CRT” has a nice ring to it, but it’s really not what has some fired up.

I would bet all my $ that the large majority of people in favor of banning CRT in schools have not actually had it taught to their children.

You think someone in a video online saying "all whites are racist" means CRT's premise is that all whites are racist?

Like I already said, you are taking the most distasteful form of CRT and pretending that is what it is so you can ban the whole thing.

NPR was complaining that the Republicans were talking about her questionable sentencing decisions instead of „focusing on her record“. And i was like „I thought her sentencing decisions WERE part of her record? 🤷‍♂️

No I'm not. I believe it's perfectly fine for schools to teach things like systemic racism is a key reason for the economic disparity we have today; because it's true. I'm opposed to the more radical beliefs of the ideology like people are either victims or oppressors based on their racial/social/economic group. I've seen some pretty crazy documentaries on CRT. Seriously, I don't think parents would be upset if their kids weren't coming home with crazy homework assignments and reading materials.

When a liberal tells me something I am talking about is a „non issue“ then I know I am right over the target 😉
I know that right-wingers have been conditioned to believe it is an issue, and for all the obvious reasons.
Not surprising that you fall right in line.

I fully trust my perspective on this one.

What are the “tasteful” parts?

I think this is a very reasonable position although I disagree with the last sentence. For every whackadoo critical race scholar saying babies are racist there are thousands and thousands of Ken and Karens who are losing their **** at the mere prospect of this stuff coming up in class.

Okay...

I don't think she'll get confirmed though. Props to Biden's handlers for convincing Breyer to retire in an election year though. Democrats don't have anything to run on, might as well make this one a "racist" election.

So you’re not outraged that she’s being falsely accused of being sympathetic to pedophiles?

Then if it is not an issue, why do you spend so much time wringing your hands over Conservative’s focus on it? If we are just wasting our time, you should be giddy at the prospect as we are not dwelling on things that could make a difference. Thou dost protest too much.

Opinion | Even by 2022 standards, this new Ginni Thomas scandal is bad

Clarence Thomas's wife, Ginni, now admits that she did attend the January 6th "Stop the Steal" rally at The White House, but still maintains that she did not march down to the Capitol. She previously denied being there at all.

The optics of the wife of a Supreme Court Justice being such a high-profile, politically partisan activist aren't great... and if there was nothing wrong with attending that rally, then why did she lie about it?

As long as she didn't enter the Capitol then more power to her

No one is surprised by this.

I love how you make these silly assumptions about people. There is no part of CRT that needs to be taught in schools. Besides, nearly everyone has the internet. So if a parent wants their child to learn about CRT, then let them teach it to them at home.

But hey keep on insulting those who criticize CRT intelligence level. You got one of them tweets from your “skeptical libertarian” to go along with it?

I think you are making my point.
Getting a lot of mileage out of that dodge,eh?

Were you outraged when Kavanaugh was accused of rape and being an alcoholic?

Or Barrett being accused of being a religious zealot?

Not even going to mention the Handmaid thing that went to whatever word is beyond absurd.

Nah, don't feel like outrage is needed.

Protesting for stronger election integrity is partisan?

So you didn’t actually think those things were wrong, you were just mad the democrats thought of it first.

Very enlightening.
