I did have a funny, albeit brief, conversation with one of my adult children this weekend. Keep in mind he has Autism…
I told him I was dating someone and that I would eventually like them to meet, sooner rather than later. I told him if he had any questions, comments or concerns to let me know. He simply replied okay. Later on, I said I was surprised he didn’t have any questions or comments about me dating someone who isn’t his father… he said “ I think mostly, it’s because I don’t care, and secondly I’m not going to have that much interaction with him anyway”

Yep, that’s a spectrum response!

FWIW (we’re all different, including those on the spectrum), my son loves my husband, not the least because their political and social views are so similar. He has also mentioned that he (son) is happy that he (husband) makes me happy, but the way they click is probably the big part.
