Yea looking back at it Michigan wasn’t a good matchup. I truly thought we’d cruise to a win when I first saw them. But then I saw they’re one of the best teams in the country at preventing assists and pretty good at locking down your top shooter, and if we aren’t assisting we aren’t scoring. When I saw that I got nervous and I knew we didn’t have anyone that could handle Dickinson
And they were a "preseason" top 4 team--just underachieved. It may be they play better without that point guard that got hurt.I was nervous because they have 8 top 100 RSCI players on that team. Nervous that they had 4 guys averaging 10 ppg or better, nervous that 2 of their top 5 scorers were 6'11" or taller not to mention that only 2 of their top 7 mpg guys are under 6'7". Now with all that being said, if we just shoot on average from 3 hitting 6 out of 18 that's an additional 12 points and we win that game comfortably. (considering they hit 6 FTs in the final 37 seconds as we tried to extend it)
They beat who they had to play. I would have taken a 1 point win over Longwood if it came down to it
I remember Pearl coaching us in a close game and we couldn’t run a set play at the end of the game. Somehow Chism always had the ball 25 feet from the basket with 2 seconds left. Loved Pearls energy but in game coaching was a definite weakness.
