It’s not ideal for him to be a starter, but you’ve gotta make due, and I think he makes up for his size with tenacity on D, crafty scoring, and hopefully in the future with shooting, though that remains mostly theoretical at this point. Honestly his size hurts him shooting because it’s so much easier to close out on him

Correct. Unless we flip part of the roster again, I still dont see it with next years team either.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t welcome an upgrade at PG if one becomes available (assuming Kennedy is gone), but that is not as worrying to me as our posts developing. BHH and Aidoo cannot stagnate, Uros has gotta quit with the dumb fouls and get a better sense of when to take it up and when to kick it out, and ON needs to improve his awareness and get healthily. Don’t need a Kennedy level PG to get out of the first weekend if our bigs aren’t as putrid as they were this year (case in point: Michigan played today without their PG at all, and we got a killer performance with KC, and yet)

We’re not running anybody off whether it’d be the right move (Bailey and maybe Uros depending on who we could get) or the wrong move (ORN). Just not what Barnes does, I think appropriately, they’re college kids he made a commitment to

Disagree. Don’t need to be a mercenary to make the second weekend more than once in a blue moon. I think some boilerplate Barnes criticisms have merits (if his teams start cold, they stay cold. Doesn’t use him timeouts. Poor drawing up of end of game plays). Running college kids off is bush league though and hurts in recruiting in the future

I think it depends on how its done. If you just run kids off left and right and leave them on their own then sure. But make them realize they wont play at said level, and help them find landing spots.

I think he sees his role as a coach at a non-professional level is to do his darndest to have them reach that level unless they decide on their own not to.
Also can bite you. Can move on from a player too soon. ON is an example, where two different people can watch the same player, and have differing opinions on his value. And I was incredibly frustrated by him this year. But Grant Williams isn’t walking though the door

Maybe but if your going = an ORN for a younger ORN then sure. But if youre upgrading ORN to a Phillips then it is what it is.

You think a freshman Phillips helps more next year than a senior ON? I don’t agree with that. And with Scov and James being seniors (and if Kennedy comes back, surely his last year), next year is a year to push for something

If Phillips lives up to his ranking absolutely. Thats like asking if KC was going to help coming in to this year.

I didn’t say he wouldn’t help, I said a trade of senior ORN for a freshman Phillips is a net negative for next season
That lineup looks good but it’s assuming a huge leap from BHH and Aidoo. I hope that’s the case, but if it’s not, we’re in the same place as this year, great backcourt, mediocre front court. When our FC is this bad I’m not running of an experienced senior with a lot of talent (that hasn’t always come together, albeit).
Also don’t think Barnes would ever start a lineup that small, but maybe. BJ Edwards should have a role too

I’ve been in Vegas with my friends this week for our annual March madness trip and have tried to stay unplugged. Just dropping in to say that this is the saddest day of the year, every year. No one player or coach is to blame for this. Everyone played their asses off, it just wasn’t our day shooting the ball. It came at the worst time, but it really just boils down to that. This team was tons of fun and it makes me very sad we won’t get to see KC in orange again. That said, we have some great pieces coming back next year and should be just as good, if not better. To those who have said they think ON getting hurt was good or that he should transfer, I hope today was your wake up call. This was the exact kind of game we missed him in and would next year and beyond, if he leaves.

Juwan outcoached Rick, imo. Completely took away Vescovi. Dickinson, Williams and Brooks killed UT. I don't understand why we rode with Fulk for so many minutes in the 2nd half. Vols had more depth down low, the 🦒 got no minutes in the 2nd half and BHH didn't get get any in the last 15 minutes or so. No, we didn't shoot well, but it seemed like Rick decided to ride or die with Fulk and we died. Uros got tired, but played his a$$ off. Barnes used BHH, Aidoo, Uros and even Fulk to give fits to the SEC POY, twice, but he decided to rely on Fulk alone, to stop Dickinson for most of the 2nd half. Just not the game plan, I would have went with. I'm so pissed, but at the least, that 43 years without a SEC Tournament Championship is done. Still, Barnes had the team peaking at the right time and decided to ride with the weakest, clumsiest and too short guy to guard the best big man, UT has faced all year. Why didn't he throw all the young big guys at him ? I just don't get it. I love Barnes, but Juwan or maybe Martelli outcoached him, today. With all that being said, I love Fulky, too. But Barnes should have known better than to put all that on him. Plus, Chandler had 9 assists with like 15 minutes to go and never got another one. I know that has a lot to do with players missing, but he got where he was trying to do too much. Still, it comes down to Vescovi and even JJJ, to a lesser extent, throwing up bricks in the 2nd half. I want to hit something, but I'm not going to. God ****ing damnit ! This loss is even more painful than UNC, Ohio St and Purdue, because we were peaking, for once and it all went to Hell. I've already beat the wife and the dogs, now I want to smack Juwan. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggghhhh ! The only good thing about this loss is, at least it wasn't to Draymond and Michigan St, because that one, ruined me for weeks. I really believed the Vols were going to the Final Four, this year. Yes, I'm rambling on, one big paragraph, but I'm ****ing mad. The only ****ing thing that will make me feel better, is stealing Julian Phillips from that cheating mother ****ing bastard, Will Wade and LSU. **** you Wade, **** you Michigan, just **** everybody. I don't even wanna watch another ****ing Tourney game all ****ing year. The only thing that can possibly make this Tournament even worse, is if that piece of ****, ****ing Bruce Pearl or Coach K make the ****ing Final Four and/or win it all. While I'm at it, **** Arkansas, too. See you all, I'm about to be on a vacation
