I don't normally follow the off season moves, but I miss the Braves' days of Ted Turner. Liberty just seems to frugal IMO.

Talking about Olson's contract? That's over 8 years. And yeah, that's a lot of money, but in TT's day he wasn't afraid to keep up with the Yankees or other teams in their spending. He was always about wanting to win. I enjoyed that.

We just won the World Series, something the yankees haven’t been and won’t be doing

We gave a top shelf first baseman a lifetime contract extension and signed the best available relief pitcher in about a four hour window.

We are spending money and we are winning.

AA is running laps around the league right now… no day has scoops and he wants to win. Hard to be upset with where we are and the next 3-4 years or so

Ted Turner spent so much money that he salary dumped 2/3 of the outfield off a WS team. Maybe the memory of Ted Turner spending money is a little greater than Ted Turner actually spending money.

I dont think its that, its that LM tends to be a convenient catch all for all the pereived things that ail the club. Sure, we don't have the highest payroll in baseball but it hasnt stopped us from putting together a badass team and we did just win the WS.
