What is THIS IDIOT talking about???

Anything can happen. Right?

There’s only 2 teams in our path to the Elite 8 that have a defense, Loyola (#22) and Villanova (#28). We have the 3rd best defense in the entire tournament.. The next best defense other than these three in our bracket to the E8 is Colorado State at #83. Michigan stunk it up against Q1 teams though CSU didn't have any more Q1 wins than the Wolverines. Michigan's schedule has been far and away tougher than CSU. jmo.

You never know but it looks to me like we've got a good shot (on paper) no matter the opponent. jmo.

"Defense wins championships" mindset...

Tennessee wins, Colo State wins, Loyola wins, Villanova wins

That puts us right in path with a potential revenge matchup against Villanova and/or Colo State.

Part of me would love to be able to beat Michigan as well though to get back at them for that BS game they stole from us in 2014 tournament. But at this point I'm not taking any opponent for grant and I hope the team isn't either. 1 game championships the whole way now and you wanna end the season with a Win.

I feel the worst for @Devo182. He was spent a good part of his day preaching the virtues of NET rankings and statistical modeling, scoffing at the notion that the committee might go off script to help out their preferred teams.

They thanked him by sh*tting out one of the most panned brackets in recent memory. And did they defend it with numbers and modeling? Nope. Instead, they waxed poetic about how they much they enjoyed Wisconsin’s season this year. And based on TAMU’s exclusion and VT’s seeding, you have to wonder they even looked at the NET Rankings.

TAMU: 42 NET (out)
ND: 53 NET (in)
Rutgers: 77(!) NET (in)

VT: 27 NET (And ACC Tourney Champion)…11 seed

Devo, you did yeoman’s work yesterday defending the process against us jaded old-timers. The committee really let you down, though.

Agree totally! I think they couldn’t stomach the idea of 3 SEC schools at #2. Sankey should be fired for how badly this played out - or maybe he did his best and the lack of SEC representation on the committee is what caused this. Wonder if there’s a bit of a backlash because SEC is so dominant in football?

Considering the Big 10 got in 9 teams has to be bitter backlash involved. Cause even if ya made picks before conference tournaments it's still really hard to justify Michigan, Rutgers, Indiana, and Ohio State getting in...and all 4 were 12 seeds or better to boot. All with worse records prior to conference tournament than A&M as well.

Archie Miller has TN in Final 4 on Field of 68 podcast that he and his brother Sean do with Jeff a Goodman. Sean has AZ and Jeff has Illinois. Jeff thinks AZ top player is more hurt than they are putting on. I’d love to get a Villanova rematch then play Illinois.

Guys, we're going to land Nico. We're going to pay him over 2 million a year. Be excited about it.

So many of y'all are posting "oh no, what if he's a bust?!" Yes, there are going to be times when we pay players big money and they don't pan out. It happens in professional sports every single year. It will happen here. Who cares? At least we're giving ourselves a shot at the best players in the country every single year. Some will bust, most won't.

all of our losses were to quad 1 teams, some in overtime.. That's what I was saying-- why should we play that hard schedule if you get penalized for it?
I’m with ya, but they were praising Wisconsin for their road wins, so that must weigh more heavily for them

What gives you the most confidence that we are getting nico?

All the smoke points to it. I've already listed the reason why that athletic article absolutely is referring to Nico. AP has been dropping hints. There's a guy on VQ who is clearly connected to Spyre. He is at 100% when he speaks about Spyre/NIL. He's dropping major hints that it's coming this week. It's happening.

Since CFB is now the developmental league for the NFL - 100% agree. That's the way it works in professional sports. If he doesn't pan out he transfers and the money goes to the next guy. He just needs to be willing to sit a season to get ready and at some point prove he's better than the guy on the field - no special treatment when they strap the pads on. The players know when a guy is a pet and it never ends well.

Other than the loss at Rupp where Ky shot lights out the whole game we really didn’t have that bad of losses.
Tx tech- lost in ot on a neutral court and we could hit a shot the whole game. I’ll never forget JJJ tripping his self on an easy dunk.
Tx- we lost on a phantom foul where we didn’t even touch the guy.
Alabama- we lost without two of our top players on the road.

Really saw some elevation of play by Santi, KC, and JJJ.

Santi: 12.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.7 spg, 40% from 3, 90% from FT
JJJ: 14.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 0.7 spg, 1.3 bpg, 50% from 3, 70% from FT
KC: 14.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.3 spg, 46.8% from 3, 54.2% from FG

I personally think JJJ should have gotten tournament MVP, but no complaints with it going to KC.
