Seems like the staff is in better standing with in-state for 2023 than they were with 2022. It's also plainly obvious that 2023 in-state lacks the star power volume having maybe half as many legit blue chip prospects as 2022 offered. In-state recruiting has to get better, so cannot fault the staff for going after what's there but dang it just seems like we cannot get a break and have increased in-state interest matched with a bumper crop of in-state talent.
It's obvious that we laid a claymore mine and then jumped on it to save ourselves. Once teams caught wind of it they did what was natural. Further, on his way out i'm sure cornbread mcredneck Gauldened every school in TN.

Tennessee not a top 1 or 2 seed is on perception alone

It makes absolutely no sense why we wouldn't be

Some guy on Sirius this morning with Barrett Sallee said " I still cant figure out if Tennessee is any good" lol i almost had to pull over. Like what? He followed it up saying sure they completely tapped Kentucky out but idk if they are good. What a truly weird thing to say about a team with that type of resume. These guys aren't actually watching games i don't think.

Jamaal White thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Knoxville. He witnessed Coach Hitr’s high flying offense pass for over 450 yards in a satisfying 42-28 win over rival Florida. White still has a visit scheduled with Missouri later in the season, so we’ll have to survive that. But right now things are certainly trending in the right direction.
NIL deal must have been legit bc if I remember correctly he had no interest prior to the visit.

Because of a few ugly offensive games against other good teams, and that Kentucky blowout earlier in the year...that is the perception that is sticking in peoples minds. They keep expecting us to have another 48 point game...and they way our offense still looks for big stretches of games, you kind of understand why.

I don't agree with their perception either, but I do get where it comes from.

They absolutely don't. They are still acting like we are the same inconsistent team from December and January. It's why Jimmy Dykes says during every game now "the Vols could definitely go all the way" telling people, "hey Tennessee is really good if you haven't noticed yall!"

Only 7 quad 1 losses
10 quad 1 wins
4 wins over 1 and 2 seeds
But we are a 3 seed?

Yeah...agreed. offensively we're hot and cold, and you never really know who is gonna be the guy that steps up on that end of the court. Fulky, KC, SC, JJJ, ZZ...all of them have had games where they were go to guy and took over a game.

So people that don't follow us regularly just don't know us, except to say we're elite on defense but they don't know about our offense.

We're a high assist to scoring team...which means a lot of guys are gonna get opportunities.

We have 3 guards that almost interchangeable and also present different matchup problems depending on who we're playing.

To me...so long as we aren't completely ice cold like we were in December and part of January.....that all makes us a really dangerous team to play in a one and done situation. It also means no one should be surprised if we lost similarly...

you can't look at us and say there's anything we do consistently enough that you can just count on it game in game out. So people can't figure out why we're good. we're a box of chocolates...lol good news...most everything in that box is pretty good.😉

Hope it stays that way because I enjoy reading and hearing their excuses for being stupid.

They pick aberrations and claim they are the norm.

The Dance is a different deal. Get adjusted to the venue, tune out the noise, get hot on O, play great D. Best way to do that is with great G play.

Do the"expert" doofuses realize that is our guys' identity? Nope. They should because we have waxed some top teams, especially the second half of the season.

Tamu is currently #41 NET. Top-50 neutral games are Q1. Assuming they don't drop but a few spots for losing to us, that should be our 11th Q1 win. Maybe not the best win%, but that would be the most Q1 wins.
