Who Are The Teams You Love To Hate? Which Teams Do You Have A Soft Spot For?

It seems like you have some personal issues with Oklahoma. Biggest cheaters ever? Don’t think so. Did they have some issues with the culture or the program in the 80s? Of course. So did other programs.

You have the 2008 national title over OU. But let’s not ignore the fact that sCUMbag knowingly had a thug murderer on the team. He never disciplined. CUM and his antics were largely ignored because Jesus was your QB.

You want to share why your 1984-1985 teams, perhaps among the best in the history of the Gator program, had no postseason experience and a VACATED SEC title?

1. I didn’t say Florida was clean or didn’t have its own issues. A lot of programs do.

2. Oklahoma has done it on a whole other level for most of the history of the program. It’s not just Switzer. Although, Switzer is so dirty no one even bothers to notice any one else who looks clean by comparison.

As we are finding out with NIL and all the other changes, this isn’t new. A lot of programs did improper things over the years. It’s not like Oklahoma is the only school who was doing things over the years. They certainly were not alone.

But, like I said, Oklahoma did things above and beyond. They had to. So did Nebraska. Recruiting still comes down to certain basics. If everyone is cheating, then you really have to go above and beyond to get out of state kids to come to Norman, Ok or Lincoln, NE.

Miami cheated during the 80s and that was with South Florida kids staying in South Florida. But, Nebraska getting kids like Lawrence Philips from the LA, CA area to come to Nebraska. I mean, I want to be in the room for that sales job.

18 year old black kid from LA and you’re going to convince him to come to Lincoln, NE, when he can go almost anywhere he wants. Right.

And they did that with a lot of kids. At least, Oklahoma primarily went after Texas kids.

Strong dislike:
Penn State - started in the early 70's with Paterno's sanctimonious hypocrisy, and increased when I lived among a lot of their fans
Notre Dame - mainly because of Lou Holtz but I let it carry over to today
Michigan - they haven't done much of anything for the last millennium but think they're the top
Texas - fairly new dislike but the more I know their fanbase the less I like them
VPI - I pitied them in their doormat days but when they got fairly good their fanbase got rotten. I liked Beamer though.

Soft spot:
UCLA
Oklahoma
ETSU

1. Florida - As long as I've been a fan of UT, they've had UT's number, especially in some remarkable and unbelievable ways.

2. North Dakota State University - They're successful and I was born there.

Always hated Oklahoma and Nebraska. Always thought their success was built on years of playing crap.

And Oklahoma has been, IMO, the biggest cheater college football has ever known.

This… I always thought OU was an overhyped pretender. The one time I gave them benefit of the doubt I picked them to beat USC in the 03(?) NC and they got absolutely hammered.

tOSU is up there too.

Always had a soft spot for Michigan. Probably a mix of wanting them to beat tOSU and my inner geek appreciating the Wolverines nickname.

I want people to hate Tennessee. Don't you see, the trend here is to naturally hate the teams that win the most. It's human nature. Would we have as arrogant a fan base as Alabama, OSU, Georgia etc if we were winning? Most likely. Would we get bandwagon trailer park fans like Bama has? Most likely. You can't avoid that.

Yeah I've never liked either school too. Outside the SEC however I despise Penn State Ohio State and UNC

Years ago at a family thing, which meant food and football, I said to my cousin (in backwater Georgia) that I only liked Georgia when they were playing Florida. He responded: Everyone hates Florida. I agreed.

In the SEC the Team I hate the most is of course Florida. The fanbase I despise the most is UGA with USCjr and the Bubbas being a close second. The team I've always had a soft spot for is Arkansas. Lived in Arkansas and never had anything but friendly banter with Razorback fans.

I hate Vanderbilt and Florida with a burning passion. Had some truly vile interactions with fans of theirs.
I think I'm desensitized to Alabama at this point.

I've got a soft spot for LSU. I just love the Bayou culture and their uni's. But Will Wade can drown in the swamp.

Soft spot/love Georgia Tech. My daddy was a grad. I went to school in Atlanta. Only one guy in the nursing program, and he was not in to girls. So we terrorized the Tech campus. When they won the National Championship for football in 1990, BOOM. The big song was MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This." Terrible pants overall, but a great theme song. Doubt he was a 12" single.

I hate Georgia more than anyone. Second place is Florida. Third is a tie between every other SEC Team. Seriously. To he$& with the rest of the conference.

I have a soft spot for Texas just because I’ve lived in Central Texas so much over the course of my career. Of course, when they join the SEC, I guess I’ll dislike them too - HA!

GO VOLS!!

Hate - Bama...because I was raised in a house in the 80s and you just hate all things Bama.

Soft spot - have grown to have a soft place for Indiana since marrying a native gal and settling down. I see a lot of parallels with IU Basketball and UT Football. Also, I would love to see Tom Allen be successful and habitually knock off OSU and Michigan every year.
I hate Michigan for the same reason that you have a soft spot for Indiana.
