I think 2024 maybe at the earliest. They just signed 11 top 100 players this last cycle and we signed 0. They've been lapping us like that every year, Bama too, that sort of advantage is harder to overcome than some think. We had 2 drives on UGA last year to start the game and then they shut us down until garbage time. We were down two scores at the half. We played Bama pretty well for 3 quarters and then they blew us out. People say "it's just depth", well depth is recruiting. I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, I'm encouraged by year 1 of Heupel and I agree with you that defense is where we've got to improve the most, but there are some teams on the schedule we're just not going to close the gap on the field on with scheme, we've got to recruit better, and that's hard until the stench of scandal Beldar left us with has been washed away. 7-6 was a good record last year, I'd love to see 8-4 or 9-3 next year, I think we've got a good shot, but there's going to be a definite ceiling on the program until recruiting improves substantially.
