Vols have 16th best roster

Interesting. I don't think it is accurate, but its nice to get some love.

Otherwise, looking at the smarmy grin of Supercuts, with that ridiculous Steve Spurrier-copying visor with the G copied from the Packers, I'm amazed how someone can make Saban look distinguished and normal.

At the moment for 2022, per Athlon Sports.

Ranking College Football's Rosters for 2022

Again, one marvels at the overall strength of the SEC. The average ranking of SEC teams is 20.5.

That's not what that means. "roster" and "recruiting class" are very different things. We have the 16th best recruiting average. You'd have to factor in attrition (we had an unprecedented amount last season) in order to make these numbers matter.

Did you read the article? It acknowledged that, it said:

"Below are the national recruiting ranking averages for the Power 5 schools, Notre Dame and BYU over the last five classes according to 247Sports Team Composite rankings and each team's record over the last five seasons. Obviously, this doesn't take into account attrition. However, with a five-year window in place, this should be considered relatively even across the conference. "

I used the term roster because the article did. E-mail the guy at Athlon with your quibbles, I'm just the messenger.

Blame whoever you wish. It doesn’t make the use of the term “roster” any more accurate
Blame? Are you nuts? There is no "blame" associated with this, how about read the articles people link before posting redundant material, and attempting to pass it off as original thought.

If they used 247's roster composite then that includes attrition.

Just checked and they haven't updated it for 2022.

Called the "Team Talent Composite" on 247.
Yes, that is the most accurate measure. It is usually released right before the season. We were 19th on the team talent composite last year so I don't think it's that much of a stretch that we could be as high as 16th this year.

That list is a complete joke. All of Texas A&M’s classes are rated higher than texass, yet texass is rated higher overall.

Yeah, ok.
Are you looking at all 5 years? Looks to me like Texas is ranked higher for the two oldest classes. Anyway, as others have said, the team talent composite 247 puts out is the best ranking of this kind because it looks at it player by player and accounts for attrition. It'll come out like a week before the season. Last year we were 19th, we fell from 15th the year before after all those players left.

They may have been ranked higher because after a player commits to texass they get a recruiting bump. Happens every year. They are extremely overrated. Their defense blows and their OL sucks. Their receivers are their only good position.

Proof that the 2 oldest years recruiting rankings don’t really matter : re: 5-7 and losing to freaking Kansas.

If any of these are simply based on recruiting rankings and then they say the roster is rank X, we can assume they are wrong from the get go. If they look at every player on every roster and see how they are playing or developing, study film, speak to coaches etc, it might be slightly more accurate. For some reason I doubt they go that in-depth.

But hey, this Florida team is terrible right? We should beat them easily this year right?
You say that as a joke, but everyone knows it’s true. They typically give us one of their top 3 games of the year and we give them one of our worst 4 games of the year.

Sure they create some of the good they do and the bad we that we do, but we are our worst enemy when it comes to them. Unforced errors at the worst moments is our problem with them.

They get to play their Super Bowl the third Saturday of September. Who “took their soul” last year? Was it Ky or had they already quit?

Here is the thing. UF isn’t terrible. They aren’t in disarray. Yes they changed coaches but Napier has already started bringing in talent. You said it. We get one of their best games and they get one of our worst. Why? Why has it been that way for decades? Why is regardless of what staff we have or they have that they can find a way to win but we can’t?

Last year we had a brand new staff that knew nothing of the UF curse that looms over us. But what happened? We got absolutely dominated. This year we have fans saying that Napier isn’t any good and neither is UF. They still have more talent than us. And like I said, it seems like it doesn’t matter how bad their coach is they still beat us.

You don't go 1-16 against a team unless you're out talented, out coached or both. It's impossible
