War in Ukraine

No. That is not a condemnation of this actual Russian incursion. Trump was baselessly speaking in hypotheticals. Trump did nothing about the December 2020 Russian cyber attack against American businesses. Trump did what he always does : publicly side with Putin.

... and for what it's worth, I think you're a d***head.
It's 100% a condemnation. Your derpy word salads aren't going to be able to redefine that. We do know how Biden will handle it and so far, he's been out maneuvered.

Unlike you who began parsing out the 'genius' and 'savvy' comment, I have no need to parse or paraphrase which is why I posted the excerpt from the interview in entirety. Again:

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, what went wrong was a rigged election and what went wrong is a candidate that shouldn’t be there and a man that has no concept of what he’s doing. I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, “This is genius.” Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.

So, Putin is now saying, “It’s independent,” a large section of Ukraine. I said, “How smart is that?” And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force… We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy… I know him very well. Very, very well.

By the way, this never would have happened with us. Had I been in office, not even thinkable. This would never have happened. But here’s a guy that says, you know, “I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,” he used the word “independent,” “and we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.” You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad."

Your finding "support for Russian aggression" and that "Trump is happier than a pig in slop" over the invasion, doesn't make me a Trump fan boy for pointing out your mild insanity; it simply makes you wildly irrational and a sleazy bomb-thrower.
All I'm doing is using Trump's own words... and his track record of publicly siding with Putin's denials of Russian aggression. You are a Trump fan boy for defending such bizarre comments. In response to Russian aggression, Trump has never done anything but side with Putin and praise Putin. Here is doing it again.

Tell me why? Because the US doesn’t recognize it?

Good enough for me. But maybe I misunderstand your beliefs against some world governance where the UN majority (democracy) gets to decide what is real and not.

It in no way resembles a condemnation of this actual incursion. To the contrary, Trump praised Putin's justification for the incursion.

What I'm challenging is the idea that there has been anything like an independent Ukraine since the time of Kievan Rus. I'm certainly willing to be corrected (this question is far outside my depth), but my understanding is that the regions and peoples that make up the modern state of Ukraine have been more or less continously subject to foreign domination (Mongols, Lithuanians, Poles, Russians) since the High Middle Ages. I by no means wish to imply that this history undermines the legitimacy of an independent Ukraine or that the people of Ukraine in any way deserve to be subjected to today's atrocious Russian incursion. I'd like to draw some attention, though, to the complexity of Ukrainian identity and to the question of how that complexity relates to Ukraine's internal and external relations and conflicts.
I see. Ukraine being an independent sovereign state is a fairly novel thing. They’ve only been independent in small spurts of time

WTH does Trump continue to be brought up in this thread? I mean, who's the sitting president, and who promised the nation that Putin didn't want him in office? Wasn't it the same person that promised to end the CV pandemic?

Because there is not one thing to commend the guy now occupying the WH.
Joe promised to cure cancer, too; assumably once he conquers this pesky virus.

All I'm doing is using Trump's own words... a.

I mostly lurk the politics forum. I don't like ignoring posters. I've been following this thread today and my god man...you've posted the same **** no less than 50 times. What in the actual hell dude?! Really? Why are you posting the same **** over and over and over and over and OVER AND OVER????

Counts for absolutely nothing.

Then I guess just a 164 of the 193 recognizing Israel means nothing then either...

He's autistic so give him some slack.

We are looking at the potential of the biggest confrontation since WW2, and the discussion continues to devolve to arguments about our former President (who, by the way, did not see any such military aggression during his tenure).

It's like a mental illness, y'all. Move on.
He saw massive cyber aggression... and sided with Putin.
