War in Ukraine

Don't make me batter you over the head - again - with a laundry list of Trump's actions against Russia. Again, if Trump was such a supporter, why bookend his tenure with invasions but not during his?

Probably because after 3 years of it trying to frame him, Trump has a reflexive distrust of Intel and FBI whose corrupt butts the left can't get enough of.
The defense of a collective organization (the IC) with decades of both proven failure and proven lies to the people and government is bizarre. These people have must never have opened a book in their lives.

Do you have any proof that Donald Trump has ever been publicly critical of Vladimir Putin? No. He NEVER has been.

^^^^ This is known as gaslighting. ^^^^

Trump did praise Putin for his stated justification of the latest Russian incursion into the Ukraine. Trump described Putin's stated justification as being "genius." Trump also described Putin himself as "savvy." There is no point in lying about it. It's on a recorded audio. Read the the full transcript that my buddy @NCFisher posted up above in post # 6,101.

Trump did praise Putin. The adjectives "genius" and "savvy" are compliments. Period.

Hitler was a pauper turned global dictator. Was he "savvy" and was his rise not mildly "genius"?

Now tell me how I praised Hitler and am complimenting him.

"Germany, he said, is not meeting its commitment to spend 2% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on defense as required by the NATO alliance. Member nations had pledged to reach the 2% threshold by 2024. Germany has said it hopes to reach the target by 2031." Trump says US cutting troops in Germany over NATO spending | DW | 15.06.2020

Why not reduce from nearly 39K troops in Germany to 25K? Why not more troops, wouldn't that be (chuckle!) even greater deterrence to Putin?
Why should we stand in defense for decades of countries in Russia's shadow who have pathetic military capability and can't be bothered to fund their defense?
Because we said we would. And whether you believe we should or not I do. If their militaries are pathetic as you say then that's even more reason we should defend them. Russia is a threat to democracy and freedom in the west and we are the prime defense against them.

This is the worst take I've ever seen on this board. Ever.

Obviously, we all hope that this goes no further than it has, and reverses at some point soon. Putin really seems to have miscalculated here in that the Ukrainians are fighting back and he hopefully faces growing dissent within Russia. If the sanctions hurt the Russian people, in the end Putin may have done himself in.

Just hope that prospect does not cause him to go further than he has.

Do you understand that Donald Trump sided with Vladimir Putin's denial of Russian involvement in the massive cyber attack against American businesses in December of 2020, over the conclusion of his own Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo? Trump would not even entertain the possibility that Russia was responsible. That massive attack was done on Trump's watch, and he not only didn't do a damn thing about it, he publicly sided with Putin over the matter.

Putin played the west against its own interests. Exploited it's corruption. It was savvy. f*** the guy but he outsmarted the idiots(squishy self proclaimed elites) we all, the west, put in office.

We aren't sending troops. And neither you or I would volunteer to go. That "commitment" was made when and by who? We have to stick to that forever?
The commitment was made by the United States and our allies in 1949 and reaffirmed many times. I believe we stick to at as long as the threat exists. There is no clearer example that the threat still exist than what is happening today.

So an American President should publicly side with a dictator, who has a proven track record of orchestrating such cyber attacks? That is ridiculous!

Our government doesn't give a rat's ass about democracy or freedom for the people of Ukraine.

Really? Because it wasn't too long ago people were trying to convince us Russia wouldn't even invade and that the US was being hysterical.
I stand corrected- you've got a whole load of willingness to volunteer everyone up for sacrifice over your misplaced feelings too.

Just no; the EU is about 20-25% greater population and just as large an economy as the U.S. Their economy is 9X that of Russia and 3X population. Let them cut their discretionary social spending and attend to the necessary spending of their own damned defense. If they won't, let them burn next time they recklessly assume big brother is behind them and let their little brother mouths get them into trouble.

We said we would defend Ukraine's sovereignty if they gave up their nuclear arsenal when the USSR dissolved. Should we do what we said?

NATO is due a dramatic overhaul, or dissolution and replacement by a better organization.

Correction: Ukrainian forces are still attempting to dislodge Russian units still at the airport.

Yeah buddy! Because Trump had so much control over Covid! Genius. Biden sure has a handle on it!

The biggest mistake trump made was that he listened to Fauci. He knows that now.
Just convenient that a world virus was released and helped Biden stay in a basement during an election year. Weird how the cosmos works when things are altered.
