War in Ukraine

Putin has wanted this for years no doubt but he was just waiting on the right morons weakening us for the opportunity.

Current areas Russia has secured. Looking like Ukraine is putting up stiff resistance in the east but the trouble is the push up from Crimea.

Panay Incident. If true, it won't mean anything. Russia will just apologize and pay Turkey a fee like Japan did with USA in the Panay Incident.

Agree..They will just remind Turkey of the fighter jet they shot down in Syria....which brought no retaliation.

You want to see delusion. Look at democrat spin.

You can't convince these nutcases Putin waited until the Biden administration was in charge because the spin is in their best interest. If this was the middle of year 2 of Saban coaching Alabama they would try to convince you it wasn't a good hire.

I wish the left cared as much about how this all went down as they did a phone call. They somehow fell for the guy who ran a campaign from a basement. The guy is weak and even voted to not take Osama Bin Laden out... "Obama, Thanks Joe... sit this one out and go grab some ice cream and think about what you just said"

The only true way that Putin slows down is if the campaign in Ukraine goes bad for him. If he gets bogged down into an ugly war like the USSR faced with Afghanistan, then he won't be able to advance and the Russian people will turn on him.

However if the campaign is very successful, he will be more popular among the Russian people and harder to stop.

The Nazis and Hitler got a very big boost with the German people when they defeated France.

Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, people like wars that they win and take land. People hate wars only when it really starts to him home with a lot of casualties and economic hardship.

So, we really need to cheer on the Ukrainians right now, if they can hold Russia, it will stop a lot of issues here.
I haven't kept up with the reasons Russia is invading Ukraine, it seems Putin doesn't want NATO allies near his border. If he takes over Ukraine he'll be surrounded by NATO allies. Is it possible he keeps going into Romania or Poland? I haven't heard any good reasons why russia would waste time, money, energy etc. to invade a country like Ukraine.

I'm not worried about this becoming a Nazi/Hitler thing at all. Putin might go for the rest of Europe, but I think he'd get annihilated. I'm rooting for Ukraine because they should be free from Russia.

Yes. Originally the thought was to expand Russia to their original footprint, but now it seems he wants more.

No, that’s NOT what you said! You said you hate our freedoms...did you not?! I responded that Putin has nothing to do with our freedoms here.

Dont fill the role of a liar...
Since you're being hyper pedantic, how does me saying "you hate our freedom" mean the same thing as "putin is interfering with our freedom"? Are you Putin?

But it was a play on the famous GW Bush line and a suggestion that anyone who supports Putin's authoritarian actions necessarily hates democratic freedom. It's not surprising that that reference flew right over your pea-sized head.

If Ukraine falls easy, I don’t think there is any doubt he’ll push further out. Will be a NATO country and all hell will break loose. The best case scenario for the rest of the world is Ukraine turning into a quagmire. They may take Ukraine, but they will be forced to hold it. If they don’t break the will of the people early, it’s likely not going to be an easy fight.

We’ve seen third world countries and oil power backwaters fight vigorously against being occupied. We haven’t seen a westernized countries people and how they’ll respond to being occupied in a long time. If they fall we’ll see if the Ukrainian people have the stomach for insurgency.

So... @lawgator1

You still want to play the "I told you so" card now that it's open warfare?

Because you really should be scared ****-less over having an incompetent boob in the Oval Office orchestrating our response.
Right.

It would be much better, if we had someone in the Oval Office who was praising Putin's justification for this latest incursion into the Ukraine for being "genius" and "savvy," orchestrating our response.

You really want to turn this on Trump, but even you have to look at the simple fact Putin stayed on his side of the border during the Trump years.

Putin is a bully and knows he can take Biden's lunch money without any problem.

If Donald Trump is ever publicly critical of Vladimir Putin for this most recent incursion into the Ukraine, then I will admit that the whole Russian collusion investigation was an unjustified waste of time and taxpayer money.

I will also admit that the Mueller probe was a hoax, because Donald Trump couldn't possibly be a Russian asset, if he can denounce Putin for this act of aggression.

... but so far, Donald Trump has only sought to flatter Vladimir Putin with lavish praise for this attack. That is exactly how you would expect a Russian asset to respond to Putin's military aggression.

Donald Trump calling Vladimir Putin's justification for the Ukrainian incursion "genius" and "savvy" is just flat out weird. The Republican Party used to be the party of Ronald Reagan. I feel safe in saying that "the Gipper" wouldn't have handled it the same way.
LOL
