War in Ukraine

Oh lawdy.

Chinese media accidentally posts CCP rules on Russia-Ukraine coverage, hint at Taiwan takeover

Wed, February 23, 2022

Chinese news media posted instructions to social platforms about how to approach coverage on Ukraine, including a note of China’s need for Russian "support" with Taiwan.

One outlet appeared to accidentally post guidelines on what should and should not be published, while an editor from another outlet weighed in with guidance on language and approaches that he believed necessary in walking a fine line.

Ming Jinwei, senior editor at Xinhua News Agency, wrote in his WeChat blog about how his outlet needed to walk a tight line on its Ukraine coverage, noting that China "has to back Russia up with emotional and moral support while refraining from treading on the toes of the United States and European Union."

"In the future, China will also need Russia’s understanding and support when wrestling with America to solve the Taiwan issue once and for all," his post read. Ming said that it "doesn’t hurt" to use moderately pro-Russia language.

I already knew Russia and China were going to back each other's play. This was the more interesting tidbit of information to me in the story:

He might, but I don't. I personally don't give a damn about Ukraine and we shouldn't waste a dime of money on them because at the end of the day we are going to let Russia do what they want. Furthermore I would pull all of our troops out of Germany and redistribute them to the US. Germany needs a fire lit under their liberal poon asses.

I'm glad you aren't in charge of countering the spread of the Putin virus.

Oh man
Those sanctions sure did show them.

I looked it up, and I remembered the wording incorrectly. They said "as soon as" the 16th, not exactly on the 16th.

My bad.
Gotcha. I remember a UK paper (not a particularly reputable one) said the invasion would start at a specific time, but all I remembered from the US is “in the coming days” or something to that effect.

For those that are mocking the sanctions, what do you propose we do?

  1. Sanction
  2. Concede Ukraine
  3. Go to war
  4. Insert alternative here

Better yet...lets look at those that opposed Trumps sanctions in the first place.
