the answer to inflation is simple. It's debt. when you print more money it's worth less. simple math. btw, the man that controls most of the shipping industry is a trump guy.

Justice Department to investigate companies exploiting supply chain snafus

So let me get this straight..there is a conspiracy for companies to manipulate markets and hold ships offshore? This is their answer to inflation?

Wouldn't be surprising. My wife and I've gone round and round about why I don't fix stuff anymore. She refused to accept "I can't" even when I explained to her you can't get parts and for electronics you have to have stuff like schematics and you can't get those either. I tried telling her about the "right to repair" movement and legislation, and apparently I finally got through. She sent me a video of a presentation about an organization pushing for something to force manufacturers to provide parts and information - apparently if an argument comes from someone else there's credibility. Manufacturers don't want lifespans of their products extended; they don't want repairs; they want you to buy stuff. Basically they are selling consumers on the concept that things like cellphones are consumables like the bottle cap and razor blade - they just add a few mostly useless features, tell you it's faster - holds more pictures, make it look a bit different, and market it like fashion ... you don't want to be seen with yesterday's iPhone. So why not play with supply chain to boost prices?

Auto manufacturers have hit on a new concept - renewed cars that are selling sometimes for more than the current model. Look it up. Those earlier models have the chips required for all the bells and whistles, and those chips aren't available to keep new cars coming off the line - according to the line anyway (probably mostly true). Oil companies aren't replacing the capacity they had pre-covid because they can sell "scarcer" gas at higher prices - and it's easier. We are living in a disposable society by design, exceeding all the past dreams of planned obsolescence. Control access to information, products, and parts, and you control the user/buyer. Once you could repair a carburetor or early fuel injection systems, now you have to know how and what the onboard computer is telling the entire ignition and fuel system - all neatly connectable to the company built (and controlled) computer at a dealership - you and your garage are SOL.

This is nothing more than pharmaceutical welfare at this point.

That's probably true, but then "free medical insurance" for the people who can't afford it is welfare for the medical providers who would have to treat them anyway. You might even argue that indigent care is cheaper than obamaCare - we pay for it either way in medical costs or taxes - obamaCare just comes with a lot more overhead.
