‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

Not going to get my hopes up yet, if we’re in his top 4 then I’ll be intrigued.
I'd be pretty surprised if we're not in the top 4, unless there's late movement. Ofc top 4 average still just means 25%. Long ways to go, odds may not be => 50% overall, but we have a shot. It's been a long while since we've even had that for a 5* QB. Clausen was the last we even landed...over 20 years ago?

If not now, Heupel will drag in a 5* QB before long. This offense is just too good. Exciting times ahead.

Crompton was rated as high as the 2nd QB in the class. But your point is taken.

I think we may win out on this one. Lord knows I'm praying we do. Biggest comp in my opinion will be Bama but I know they're deep in the Arch sweepstakes too.
If he says he will commit in April, hopefully Arch will not have by then, leaving that unknown cloud over Bammer.

If he sticks to this timeline, I like our chances. I don't think Georgia or Alabama will want to shoot themselves in the foot with Arch Manning by accepting another QB, which might allow him to fall right into our laps.
If it's me, reading the signs (h/t Silver Linings Playbook), if we get him, we went out & GOT him, it won't be because he "fell in our lap."

Maybe "fell in our lap" isn't the right phrase, but I can't imagine the Arch Manning decision won't have at least some impact on how much certain programs press for him down the stretch if they prefer one QB to another. It's not like Alabama doesn't already have 2-3 other 5-Star QB's on staff. They're probably one of the few programs who can wait it out for their #1 choice.

Oregon is looking like they may be a factor now but still leaning the Good Guys. Hopefully Heupel and co. can make the same impression on Mama that they have on him and his dad. I think he fits our offense perfectly and Heupel is the best QB developer out of the schools is seriously looking at.

He’ll commit to us…. Play his senior year and get Dumped down 300+ spots in the rankings to a 3 star. Just how these things go for us….

All jokes aside I hope we land this kid. I’m a bit biased of course but I don’t think he’ll feel as much love and appreciation at other places than he would here. Program changing type of thing.

But whenever Arch commits, the programs that lose out will immediately begin trying to flip a kid like this. Committed doesn't mean committed. If we get him in the boat, the staff has to keep him in the boat. I hope we get him, and I hope he sticks, but it would really suck to have him commit and then decommit to go elsewhere.

It'd be like the Olympic French guy that took the ski gate to the nads.

That would definitely be a concern. I have a feeling we get Nico and he sticks with us. You are right though, it’s likely gonna be a fight to keep him. But I believe we win in the end.

From Rivals:

While Alabama and Texas seem to be the two primary schools duking it out over Manning, Georgia and Tennessee have their sights set on new five-star Nico Iamaleava. The Californian is rumored to be leaning toward signing with an SEC school or - if he decides to stay out West - Oregon or possibly UCLA.

The national champion Bulldogs have made Iamaleava a priority in this class and are hoping to get him on before he commits later this spring. The Vols have hosted him a couple times already and have built some strong relationships with him. Alabama is also heavily involved with Iamaleava, which, depending on Manning's decision, will be important to remember.
