The older you get, the more pain you feel. And honestly, it's not the physical pain that hurts the worst. It's all the scars on your heart from everyone you've lost, that you miss so much, that you just can't seem to let go of. Being a Christian, I believe I'll see them again, but even believing that it doesn't make that loss any easier. That hole in your life is always there, no matter what. You figure out a way to keep living because you have to, but those are the wounds that run the deepest, the ones that bite your soul and make you really want to howl.

My father just lost his battle with Covid. My heart is crushed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We're fighting it right now (at least that's what the nurse suspects but we've been too sick to go get it confirmed) and it's rough. It seems like it's hitting so many of us at once but to lose a loved one to it is beyond horrible. My heart truly goes out to you.

Prayers for so many of you in our group here! There are many regulars here who have lost loved ones recently, dealt with sickness themselves or of close family members, on top of just the day to day struggles in life. Prayers for God’s mighty hands to help you in whatever facet of life you need help! This is a phenomenal group here. There really isn’t anything like it.

He was just joking...jeez man. Damn people don't see what's going on and where we are headed.

The man doesn't deserve to have his livelihood taken away for that harmless 🦬💩...period.

Common sense, true tolerance and human understanding is dead.

Your statements are true. Of course we don’t know the whole story. 🤷‍♂️

True, but the physical pain ain't helping matters 😄......😢

Dang... iirc my tuition was like 8k, dorm was 3-4k meal plan was another couple thousand. Quickly moved off campus to save money on meal plan and housing.

I had HOPE-plus, TN scholarship, half off tuition, and applied for some independent scholarships. Managed to get out with about 20k debt.

Its insane how much the cost of school has increased.

My med school loans were another issue…forever thankful that my Mother could take out a home equity loan to make up the difference. I was able to defer my student loan payments and focus on the home equity loan first. Once my Mother’s house was free and clear, then I focused on my student loans. (UT and med school). My wife and I lived on a shoestring budget until we paid off all of our student loans.

Funny thing about education costs, the Valedictorian of my high school went to Harvard and then to Johns Hopkins for med school. Racked up almost $1 million in debt for those degrees. (Found out at our 10 year high school reunion) My wife I went to both went to state schools, she went to a state med school and I went to a Caribbean med school. Our total debt was <$250k. I am part of a very successful practice and make more than he does. The names of your schools only help with your first job…then it’s about you!

Bingo. One of my employees has 2 degrees and spent 7 years in college. I am a 2.5 GPA high school grad that learned more about work ethic and leadership at a young age. I just get stuff done. Once you get in the real world of work it's about how can you make your employer the most money in the most efficient way, doing the best most accurate job.

My Dad told me once, no one ever once asked him in 50 years of practice where his law degree is/was from. Not once. Because as it should be - one's reputation , in your case as a practitioner matters.

Of all my buddies in College (yes i'm the black sheep), one who went to Carib likely makes most $. Granted I dont believe success is measured by material or financial success. He was always most happy go lucky dude, plain, vanilla, never had greatest grades. Now he's an anethesiologist in Atl. Great guy. I dont need to mention how well he's done, crazy.

The best thing about my med school experience was eye opening about the world. People in the 3rd world country were happy with nothing (by US standards). The USA is the greatest country in the world. It took me living outside of it to realize how lucky we are.

We were told that to be considered equal to the US med students that we would have to be twice as good. I embraced that challenge and it taught me how to truly study. Hard work, work ethic and not giving up when things are tough can only be self taught.
